Semi Cubs In Tournament at Tiffin Next Sunday

Don Donelson's Semi-Pros travel to Tiffin to compete in a three team tourney featuring Arcadia New Riegel Lowell Giants and Donelson's Semi-Pro Cubs with Sycamore and local squads. Sycamore beat Donelson 5 2 as Columbus Travelers also won and lost in other games. Next Sunday Sept 17 the Donelson team will join Tiffin All-Stars Sycamore Semi-Pros Fremont and locals at the rubber plant field.

Carey couple wed in Greenup with simple ceremony

Miss Bernice Stoody and Darrel Bleam both of Carey were married on Thursday September 7 in Greenup Kentucky. Rev Edgar C Sidle officiated at the First Methodist Episcopal church. The bride wore a blue crepe dress and is the daughter of Mrs Perry Presler. The groom is the son of Mr and Mrs Perry Bleam. The couple will reside at South Patterson Street and begin housekeeping.

Wyandot County Fair Opens With Strong Program

Wyandot County fair opened Tuesday with one of the best programs in years. Judging in most departments was completed yesterday. Today and Friday feature three harness races daily and many free attractions. Damage from summer winds has been repaired and grounds are more beautiful than ever. Residents are urged to attend and enjoy the fair.

John Jacoby Jr won with Stop and Shop in Carey. A committee of Kiwanis and outside judges chose him after delays due to official absences. John will be 13 on November 4 and is an eighth grade pupil at the parish school.

Death of Edward Rainsberger at New Philadelphia

Rev and Mrs A C Rainsberger and children mourn the death of Edward Rainsberger who died Friday morning after a lengthy illness. The immediate cause was bronchial pneumonia. Funeral services were held Sunday for the brother of Mr A C Rainsberger in New Philadelphia.

A county W C T U convention will be held at the Nevada Methodist church on Thursday September 21. It will include forenoon and afternoon sessions and a pot luck noon meal. Members and friends of the Carey Union are asked to attend.

Big Carrot Grown On Hendrick Farm Weighs 1 Lb 10 Oz

The large carrot in the window came from John Hendrick's farm six miles northwest of town. It weighs one pound ten ounces, and over two acres of these carrots are expected to yield more than two thousand bushels. The carrots are of a careless variety.

Police Radio Hook Up canvass boosts county funding

Wyandot county launches a Buckeye State Sheriff's association effort to raise 900 dollars for installing low wave radio receivers in 10 to 12 county police vehicles and funding a Findlay broadcasting station. The district, comprising 24 northwestern Ohio counties, has already raised 10,000 dollars toward the statewide network with stations planned for Canton Marietta Dayton and Columbus.

Death of Abraham Eshelman at 78 in Carey Ohio

Abraham Eshelman died at 6:00 am on Friday at his home on E South Street from a cerebral hemorrhage after years of illness, including two strokes. Funeral was Sunday at Memorial Evangelical church conducted by Rev. W R Shisler. interment in Spring Grove cemetery. Survived by wife Amanda Peirce, son Lawrence of Akron, a deceased infant son, brother Harry Eshelman of Detroit, and three granddaughters. He served 50 years as a Carey president, was a carpenter, and belonged to Memorial Evangelical church and Odd Fellows.

A 90 pound daughter arrived for Mr and Mrs Relord Guttenberg of Salem township on Tuesday night. A daughter was born to Rev and Mrs Lewis P Speaker of 704 Remington Road on Monday at White Cross hospital. Mr Speaker previously served as pastor at Christ Lutheran church in Carey and now leads First Lutheran church in Columbus.

Carey Plans NRA Day with Local Parade and Canvass

Carey business leaders designate September 20 as NRA Day to support the National Recovery Act. The event features a house to house Consumers NRA canvass, a parade, and a public mass meeting led by local groups. Licenses will be sold at five town agencies to fund fish and game propagation.

The Woman's Home and Foreign Missionary Society of Christ Lutheran church met at the parish house with May Mullholand presiding. Cut Face In Fall From Play Pen Injures 4 Year Old

Herbert Dible, four year old son of Mr and Mrs Heart Dible of West Brown avenue, suffered a bad cut to his right cheek Tuesday afternoon after falling from a play pen at Russell Walters home. Four clamps were required to close the wound.
