Carey High School Reorganizes To Include 7th and 8th Grades
The Carey High School receives a four year charter replacing a five year charter and moves grades 7 and 8 to the elementary system to ease high school congestion. The plan broadens curriculum with writing spelling reading and health for grades 7 and 8 and adds supervised departmentalized study. The 7th grade moves into two rooms in the Col Crawford building as a step toward stronger early education and social development.

Supt G A Hartman seeks to establish a Bowling Green State University Extension Center in Carey offering courses for local teachers and adults. Labor Day Shuffleboard Tourney Winners Named
Nine women’s teams and twelve men’s teams competed in the Labor Day shuffleboard tournament. Mrs Arch Donelson and Mrs Free Scoarse led the women’s field by sweeping all games. In a two way tie for second, Mrs Charles Iden and Mrs Robert Smith matched Mrs Denver Donelson and Mrs Paul Heck after each side lost two. Men’s play finished Friday night after Labor Day rain halted games. Carl Turnbell and Ferdi Williams won one, Karl Hosafrog and Norman Zahn were runners up. Zahn Insurance Agency donated trophies awarded after the finals. A large club turnout enjoyed a picnic dinner and supper at the shelter house on Labor Day.

Fractured Leg Sustained By Boy After Bicycle Crash
Richard Marine eight year old son of Mr and Mrs Lyle Marine of S Patterson street sustained a fracture of his left leg when his bicycle was struck by a car on East Findlay street in front of the Wallace Dible home shortly after six Sunday evening. The driver stopped and witnesses noted a license number issued in Seneca county. The boy was treated by a local physician and is recovering nicely.
