The Carey Board of Education offers a new Driver Education course for 16-year-olds without a license. Approved instructors, trained in Driver Education, will provide high school credit after completing wheel training, class work using Sportsmanlike Driving and How Shall We Drive texts, and passing the driver test. Lightning Sets Farm Shed Ablaze. Firemen Save Barn
A large machine shed on the Fred Powell farm near Carey was struck by lightning during a storm and burned, with firemen arriving minutes later to fight the blaze. They saved a neighboring barn on the Daniel Powell farm, aided by a steel roof. Loss included a corn binder shredder drill corn planter wagon trailer and baled straw. Fostoria Man Dies After Heart Attack in Carey Doctor's Office
LeRoy Zeigler aged 49, a Fostoria tavern keeper, died after a heart attack in a Carey physician's office Saturday evening. He had been ill months and was aided by Fireman Updegraff. Survived by his mother and three sisters and a brother, his body was moved to Lucas funeral home in Morral for 130 p.m. Wednesday services and burial at Shank Cemetery in Johnsville.

Judge Clarence A. Ahl of Bucyrus visited last week to promote his candidacy for the Court of Appeals in the third district. Golden 50th anniversary for Carey area couple
Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Smith of 3 miles south of Carey marked 50 years of marriage on August 22 with a Sunday open house at their home. About 75 relatives attended a noon lawn basket dinner. The family included 65 children, 23 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and a visiting grandson Donald Smith from Findlay who had flown home from Casablanca where he is stationed with the air force. Relatives and friends from across the area sent greetings and flowers as the Smiths, who have lived in the Carey vicinity 46 years, enjoyed good health and strong family ties.
