Mary Crawford Dies After Six Weeks Illness
Mary Catherine Crawford 85, of Carey former resident, died Friday morning at her son-in-law and daughter’s Flint Michigan home after a six week illness. She was born August 22, 1847, married Albert Hier, had two sons Elmer and Alonzo Hunton, survived by a sister Delilah Cole and many relatives. Funeral held Monday at Goff funeral home with Rev. E D Paulin officiating and burial in Spring Grove Cemetery. pallbearers listed amongFamily and out‑of‑town attendees.

American Legion Drum Corps Rehearsal Changes
The American Legion drum corps will rehearse at 8:00 PM this Thursday and then move to Thursday evenings only to avoid conflicts with regular meetings. A.C.O parade is Sunday afternoon at 2:30 the group meets at the club rooms. The Carey drum corps was praised at the Fostoria centennial Labor Day with about 30 participants.

Car crash injures Adam Puckett on Route 23
Adam Puckett of north of Carey suffered a slightly injured nose and bruises after his Chevrolet coupe collided with a northbound truck a few miles north of the city on Route 23. The truck, driven by a Lancaster man, had a battered tail light. Puckett's car suffered major front-end damage and was pushed into a ditch.

Scouts Return From Camp Trip With Honors
The Boy Scouts of Troop 22 returned from a week at the Tiffin Jungles where they swam boated and passed tests. Russell Brown Max Silverstein Robert Binkley James Harris Charles Harris and Daryl Moyer earned camp emblems while Richard Kitzler and Alton Kinsinger received top camp honors.
