Carey Couple Injured When Freight Engine Strikes Car
Mr and Mrs Ralph Karg of Carey were hurt when their car was hit by a switching freight engine in Sycamore. Karg suffered multiple rib fractures and Mrs Karg sustained severe facial wounds requiring eighteen stitches. Witnesses Kenneth Eckleberry and Clair Moran signaled the engine crew. The couple were treated locally before returning home.

Opper Dies of Blood Poisoning After Hand Cut
Nicholas Opper, 5 miles southwest of Carey, died Friday afternoon from blood poisoning following a hand cut. Born February 13, 1860 in Bucyrus, he lived in Wyandot county 66 years and retired from farming six years ago. Survived by wife Laura Howard, son Stanley Opper, daughter Mrs Velma Opper McGinnis, two infant sons deceased, three grandchildren, and siblings John Opper, George S Opper, Mrs Katie Pratt, Mrs Mary Pratt, Mrs Anna Hill. three sisters preceded him. Funeral Monday at St. Pauls Evangelical church south of Vanlue. burial in church cemetery. Pallbearers: Willis Tong, C B Cole, J B Tong, John Kloppfer, Charles Tong, Fred Walters.

Emergency school music classes invite community singing
All interested people are invited to a Monday meeting at Carey school house on Sept 9 at 7 30 PM. The program offers free attendance and a chance to join a vocal class with Mrs W R Haines of Upper Sandusky at the school house Monday afternoon between 4 30 and 6 30. The effort is supervised by the emergency school and not intended for relief recipients.

Carey Seeks PWA Funds for Sewerage Plant and Disposal
At a village council meeting the group decided to request PWA funds to cover part of a sanitary sewerage system and disposal plant. Engineer John J. Haas reported an estimated total cost of 164000 with land near Miss Lucy Laughlin for the disposal plant. Federal funds of 73800 would be sought and Carey would cover 90200. The plan includes no sewers on Findlay street and a bond issue was not yet decided. Land purchases are estimated at 2000 and the disposal plant plus sewer to Toledo street at 70000.

Operation at Findlay brings Pahl home in serious condition
George Pahl of Frederick street was brought home Saturday from Findlay hospital after an operation for stomach trouble last Thursday. He remains in a serious condition. The trip was made in the Goff invalid car. His daughter Miss Margaret Pahl, a nurse in training at St Francis hospital Columbus, is home caring for him.

Funeral services held for George W Tong of Carey area
George W Tong died after a six month illness aged 73 years four months five days. Funeral services were at St Pauls Evangelical church south of Vanlue with Rev Smith officiating. Burial in church cemetery. Pallbearers from the Carey Odd Fellows lodge included Alonzo Ogg and others. He married Nancy Thrush in 1887 and leaves four children, sixteen grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. He was survived by a large family and many friends.

D. W. Pepple Dies Suddenly at Home
D. W. Pepple was found dead this morning about 6 a.m. at the Glen avenue home of Mrs. Anna Snyder where he lived. He had suffered heart trouble and high blood pressure for three years and would have turned 68 on the 12th. He leaves two daughters, Mrs. Clarence Cupp of Toledo and Mrs. Arthur Huston of Mansfield. His wife died about 15 years ago. He was a Spanish American War veteran.
