The Creeger Implement Co. of Tiffin and Carey was honored as Ohio's oldest farm implement business run by the same family. The recognition came during Michigan State University's Centennial of Farm Mechanization events the week of August 15. Robert W. Creeger, manager, attended in East Lansing with his wife, as proof showed the business traces back to 1883.

Carey Stores To Close On Friday Nights Starting September 16

Edward Grubel of Carey led Wyandot County in the 4 H Livestock Judging Contests at the Ohio State Fair, winning individual honors with 389 of 400 points. His brother Vernon Grubel and Dennis Swartz joined him on the county team which placed 5th. Allen Ulrich led the General Livestock team with 3rd in his class as Union and Wyandot counties earned notable marks. Other winners included Richard Gerber for Best Hay in the Junior Fair and Dick of Nevada FF.A. for alfalfa cutting prizes.

Delightful Western Vacation by the Shuman Family

Mr and Mrs George Shuman of Carey Ohio with Sue Walter and Deborah Shuman of Tiffin returned home after a three week motor trip through the West and Southwest. They visited Mt Rushmore the Grand Canyon Carlsbad Caverns and the Petrified Forest touring many natural wonders. They saw Will Rogers Memorial in Claremore and spoke with Ohioans en route. They traveled 5600 miles across 15 states and noted warm weather with one rainy day.

Zenith McLarkey, Meter Receipts Clerk Auditor, reports August receipts at 592 dollars. Fewer meters in operation than last year explain the drop from 616 to 592, due largely to removal on W Findlay and N Vance Streets at Cities Service Oil Co. driveways. Since installation in 1950, receipts and meter counts vary as meters are added or removed.
