Carey's first Legion homecoming crowns queen Friday

Carey's first annual homecoming hosted by the American Legion Earl Green Post opens Friday at 5 30 with the crowning of a queen at the Cities Service Oil Co corner. A parade follows with a majorette group drum and bugle corps and high school bands from Carey Blanchard Vanite Wharton Fremont Wyandotte Trail Riders and Mancock County Sheriff's Posse. Memorial Park offers rides and food with about 5000 dollars in cash prizes donated by Carey merchants. Voters are urged to deposit ballots by 6 p.m. in local boxes.

Franciscan Friars Convene 9th Inter-Province Conference

About 75 priests clerics and brothers from Franciscan Conventual houses in the US and Canada gathered at St Hyacinth Seminary Granby Mass for the 9th Annual Inter-Province Conference Aug 9 10 11. The program featured papers on Franciscan Catholic principles and noted missions in the United States Canada Africa Central South America Japan and Ryukyu Islands. Delegates included Rev Damian Zimmerman and Very Rev Benedict Rubeck who led discussions on shrine and seminary topics.

Families Move From Ray Hunter Farm to Ogg Farm

Mr and Mrs Hager and their bowling and family have rented the David Ogg farm house 52 miles southwest of town and moved in on August 20. The Ray Hunter farm south of Carey had been their residence and the John Karg and Howard Hunter families were previously occupants. The Hunters move this week to the vacated Bowling home.

Rall Sell 118 Acre Farm North of Carey to Walter

Mr and Mrs George Rall sold an 118 acre farm located 11/2 miles north of Carey on Route 509 to W M Walter, west of Carey. The sale was handled by Arthur Stoll, a licensed real estate broker. The Ralls plan to move to town.

Visit in East: Mrs Judy Duble Returns From New England Trip

Miss Judy Duble of Dearborn Michigan and her mother Mrs J F Dible arrived August 12 after a 10 day trip through the New England States. They reached home 12 hours before hurricane Connie struck the region, having visited many eastern states later hit by the winds and floods.

Fair memberships are available from Fair Board directors in each township and at county stores. Buy early to save time and money as sales end when the fair begins. Polio Outbreak Affects Wyandot County Victims

Jimmy Teets 98 of the Walliam Cole farm near Carey recovers from a mild polio attack after paralysis in the right leg. he is expected to regain full use. Two other Wyandot County cases include a 31 year old mother in Upper Sandusky and Norman Boggs 10 of Nevada with paralysis in both arms.

Court Receipts Set New Record At Regular Meeting

At the Aug 15 council meeting Chairman G C Wagner announced July court receipts totaling 903 67 the largest month in local court history. Funds were allocated to village treasury state county sheriff physician and other fines costs and forfeitures. Milum and McChesney Dinner Guests Before Camp Breckinridge Maneuvers

Christ Church hires Richard L. Wink of Findlay as choir director effective Sept. 1. Wink, Findlay College graduate, previously served as music supervisor in Salem township schools and as choir director at Trinity Lutheran Church Findlay. Findlay Woman Bound Over to Grand Jury

Irene Wagner 43 of Findlay pleaded guilty in Carey police court to assault with intent to wound or kill and bound over to Wyandot county grand jury under 1000 bond. She struck her husband with a beer bottle at a tavern causing a neck wound requiring six stitches. Four men pleaded guilty to intoxication and disturbance. Several traffic cases and fines were also recorded.

Visitors Return Home From Month-Long Visit

Mrs Pete Crist and sons Petey and Stephen of Aliquippa Pa returned home after a month with Mrs Crisis parents Mr and Mrs Angelo Trovano. Mr Crist joined for a week. Rev Walter Marks and family relocate to Garey parsonage

The Rev Walter Marks his wife and son Donald moved Wednesday from Hicksville to the Memorial EUB parsonage. He was assigned to the local church Aug 14 after the conference at Camp St Marys. He studied at Ashland College Seminary graduating in 1941 and was ordained in 1943 in Toledo. He has pastored in Vanlue Van Wert and Hicksville. They are from Lima with three children Marilyn Robert Donald and a grandson Jeffrey Duane Williman.

Bowling Green Student Completes Colorado College Field Problem

Nelson McLarkey and eight fellow geology students from Bowling Green State University finished an eight week summer course at Colorado College in Colorado Springs. They worked daily from 9 to 6 two days a week on their field problem before returning home Tuesday. Nelson will resume duties for the village until school begins.
