Funeral services for Miss Bertha Van Heyde were held at the Methodist church with Rev. W. F. Martin officiating. Interment followed at Spring Grove Cemetery. pallbearers included L. L. Patterson and Carl Mitchell. Attendees from away included Fred Van Heyde of Chicago and many others from Ohio towns.
The Bathers and Sisters of Bertha Van Heyde express sincere thanks to neighbors and friends for assistance during the bereavement to the minister for consoling words to the singers for funeral services to flower donors and to those who furnished autos.
Local residents traveled to Columbus and Springfield for state and fraternal events while others hosted guests. several Adrian locals visited Bucyrus, Delphos, and Napoleon areas and attended fairs. long time village barber Louis Couric moved to New Rigel. Arthur Ruehle joined the National Hay Dealers Convention in Chicago. multiple family visits noted across the week.
Mrs Flossa Washburn of Printz Biederman Co announced in town Wednesday she will be here the week of the Fall Festival to meet applicants for employment in the new garment factory.
Carey hosts Bishop Joseph Schrembs of Toledo for a farewell ceremony before moving to Cleveland. Some 5,000 laity attend rites at the shrine of Our Lady of Consolation with 160 priests and 125 Sisters present, including notable friars from Toledo and Cincinnati. The day features Pontifical High Mass, a long procession, blessed sacrament, and a large reception for clergy.
Rev Guther Spaid D D longtime pastor of the local Lutheran church for fourteen years has tendered resignation to the church council after accepting a call to Calvary Church in Irving Park Chicago. Spaid and his family plan to leave the first of October.
The Carey Kiwanis weekly luncheon at the Galt House drew large attendance amid strong enthusiasm. Superintendent A. M. Hornby highlighted school work, new high school plans, modern agricultural courses with government cooperation, and a fall lecture series. members pledged full support and a united, proactive community spirit.
McCutchenville residents plan visits and departures to Canton Cincinnati and Fremont. Several families share updates on visits, illnesses and relocations. Union and gather events are announced for Beech Grove Labor Day and Carey Park festivities.
The school board appoints Charles Miracle as janitor of the East End grade building and Parest Dame as janitor of the new high school. Their salaries are set at 75 dollars per month, below rival bid from G. W. Croker at 85 dollars. Croker previously earned 100 dollars last year and has served as East End’s janitor for several years.
W B Hoff and wife transfer lot 2 in S A Chesebroughs addition Carey to Carl D Mitchell for 750 dollars. J Hart and others transfer part of lot 2 in I J Worellos addition Carey to Albert J King for 800 dollars.
Maple Grove defeated Carey 6 to 2 on Sunday. The Maple Grove squad will return for a home game on Monday as the Out Laws of Fostoria visit for another matchup at local diamond.
Mrs J W Shock of Columbus Grove will visit son-in-law and daughter Mr and Mrs Harry Hull next week. Mr and Mrs W I Took and son Tharold and daughter Miss Gertrude of this city, Miss Harriet Almidinger of Chicago and Mr Garrett Splitter Jr of Vincennes Ind arrived Friday from a stay at Houk sum mer home on Platte Lake Mich. Mr Spitzer left Saturday for Vincennes.
