George Remlinger faced a close call when his plane lost power after takeoff last Sunday at about 3:00. He managed a safe landing near a field south of Stevens house on Patterson street thanks to a timothy seed found in a carburetor.
D. M. Snyder of Medina is transferred to Carey by Northern Ohio to act as operator from midnight to 6:00 a.m. The Medina office is closed at night, and the Carey office closes from 5:00 p.m. to midnight. Agent Steinmetz is on duty from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Walter Gottfried found young monkey faced owls in a silo on the St Ranger farm east of town. He brought two of them to the park where they have been attracting a great deal of attention.
Northern Ohio selected Carey as a division terminal for locals. Since last Monday two crews work every night to handle growing freight demand. The new setup cuts shift time to eight hours, with an additional terminal at New London. Routes run Delphos to Carey, Carey to New London, and New London to Akron, aiming for permanent operations and aiding Carey’s prosperity.
Kiwanis members met Tuesday at the Galt Restaurant with strong attendance and reaffirmed support for the Chamber of Commerce Fall Festival. An invitation was extended from the Fremont club to attend a social gathering this Thursday night.
The W C T Us will hold a meeting Friday afternoon at 2:00 with Mrs K C Henry. An election of officers is planned and every member is urged to attend.
The Carey and Tiffin choirs received high praise for their performances at the Solemn Pontifical Mass held at the Church of Our Lady of Consolation on August 31. Under Ralph Brown and Emil Wagner the choirs and Gregorian chant were skillfully rendered with strong accompaniment from organists Esther Orians and Miss Wagner.
A Carey community letter thanks citizens for August 31 cooperation and broad minded demeanor. Bishop and writer extend gratitude to Common Council, Chamber of Commerce, and others for decorations and reverent onlookers.
The West Ohio M H conference releases a partial list of important appointments. Rev. Martin returns to the local church while Rev J M Shimer stays at Iostoria and Rev C C Peale remains superintendent of this district. C C Kennedy moves to Greenville and James Collyns becomes pastor at Upper Sandusky. J F Oliven remains superintendent of the Enfrance district. G B Dibert goes to McCutchenville and J Fr Newcone to Wharton. St D McColm is assigned to Vanlue.
William S. Hart appears Monday and Tuesday at the Strand Theatre in The Toll Gate. He portrays Black Deering, a bandit leader fleeing a sheriff's posse and performing thrilling feats including a sixty foot leap into a river. A woman’s faith causes his reform.
On Wednesday photographer W. E. Montague captured a group of five generations. The image features John LeMott and Samuel LeMott of Vanue, Mrs J E B Daniels of Findlay, and Mrs Porter Hendricks with daughter Mauveline. John LeMott will be 186 years old next month and his great great granddaughter is two months and one week old.
Work began Wednesday on a five room bungalow under construction by Carl Mitchell on a North street lot between the homes of D. S. Chesebrough and Jacob Hilty.

Charles Foot of Akron formerly with the Rubber Co in Cleveland arrives as foreman of the Liberty Tire plant and plans to move his family here. The plant abandons solid tires and will focus on pneumatic tires due to order backlogs at Carey. Irvin Jordan of Cleveland, president of Liberty Tire, is in town this week as electric power awaits connection. Testing of transformer oil at Newark revealed water contamination requiring filtration to avoid transformer burn out. Line delays over the T and O C at Berwick add further hold ups.
Warren Wisner, a carpenter for Williams & Laird, fell from the roof of a house on Brown Ave Saturday around 9:00 am. He survived the incident but suffered three broken ribs and a cracked right collar bone and is now out of danger.
W I Montague buys the photograph gallery located over the Woolworth 5 and 10 store in Findlay. He plans possession on October 1 and expects to move his family around that date.
W J Baker of this city announces candidacy for the county board of education this fall. This marks the first time this part of the county has had a candidate for the office.

Admission set at 15 cents. county farm bureau to bring a big display. prizes offered for best merchant display.
The 10th Enders reunion drew 125 attendees at Carey park on Sunday. Officers elected include Gilbert Enders president and Manson Snders vice president. out of town guests from Duncan Oklahoma Marion Bloomville Upper Sandusky Prospect and more. Next reunion set for the first Sunday in September 1922 at Carey park.
The pew grand stand at the fair grounds will be completed this week and be ready a week before the fair opens. The former school library will be converted to a heater and used as an improvement. A number of persons have tried out the race track already and several local horses have run trials in recent days.
