Bereaved community honors Bertha Van Heyde a longtime teacher
Miss Bertha Van Heyde died at home after a three day illness. A Circleville native, she taught in Carey public schools for 25 years, mainly the eighth and seventh grades. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church with Rev. W. F. Martin officiating. She is survived by three brothers three sisters and a niece.

The Ward Baker family reunion gathered at the park on August 19 with 125 attendees. Officers elected included President W J Baker and secretary treasurer Gertrude Ward. Speakers from Michigan Ohio Virginia and more shared remarks. The next reunion is set for Carrey Park on the third Friday in August 1922.

New United Food Co Opens Store in Former Bish Grocery
United Food Co plans a self serve cash store in the Bish grocery space after Bish reduces stock and remodeling. The firm operates about 100 stores in Ohio and Pennsylvania with locations in Tiffin Fostoria Galion Wilmington Willard and Plymouth. R B Whiteveland, sales manager, is in the area for a month coordinating the opening.

Farewell Mass for Bishop Schrembs in Toledo Diocese
August 31 outlines a diocesan farewell for Bishop Joseph Schrembs who departs to Cleveland. A procession will travel East on Clay North on Vance West on Main and South on Lake Streets with town leaders asked to display flags and business closes 2 to 3 pm. The Clerk of Courts H C Staggs reports daily influx of car owners across the county complying with the Atwood law effective Wednesday. Registration must occur within three days, but state guidance grants a reasonable grace period. A 20 cent filing fee is charged for the affidavit.

Four Autos From Michigan Farmers Auto Tour Stop in Carey
Four cars from the Mich Farmers Auto Tour halted in Carey Saturday morning on their way home from a tour of Ohio Pennsylvania and West Virginia. The August 6 start linked 175 autos in the party as they studied farming methods and were welcomed at every stop. In Ohio they visited the Agricultural college at Ohio State Columbus and the crowd split to head home or continue with more brief calls. The Carey arrivals were on a direct route home.

Union Services Held at Local Churches
Union services were conducted last Sunday at United Brethren church with Rev. Reinhart preaching. Rev. W. F. Martin led, Rev. I. H. Amore prayed, and Neil Perkins read scripture. The final meeting of the six part series is Sunday at 7:30 pm at the Methodist church with Ridge quartet and furlough missionaries Misses Minnie and Elizabeth, from Pandora, as speakers. Children are urged to attend for singing.
