Joby Hindman 76 died at his home south of Carey Ohio from Brights disease. He was born August 23 1832 in Pennsylvania and served in the Civil War with the 88th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. Survived by wife Mary Elizabeth Caskey and three children Irank John and Mrs Jennie Wentz. Funeral October 11 at United Evangelical Church Carey with interment at Spring Grove Cemetery.

The Ohio State Journal reports four claimants for a gold band found in a fish stomach caught by Fred Sites at Buckeye lake. Claimants include W. C. Fire Aid Responders Rush to Wharton Blaze
Calling on for help the Wharton fire alarm sounded around four o clock. A large livery stable owned by Virgil Ward burned along with two smaller barns. One horse three buggies and much hay were lost. Firefighters and townsfolk rushed to prevent spread to adjacent business rooms and saved goods from threatened buildings.
