Tuesday afternoon the local rubber plant and machinery were offered at a public auction. A few bids were received on the machinery but none on the building. Next Friday the trustees in bankruptcy and a committee of the preferred creditors will confer with the referee at Marida to decide if any bids are to be accepted.
The Woman's Missionary society of the Evangelical Church plans a special Thani Offering program on Sunday evening November 29 at 7 30 p m The Loyal Workers class will hold a meeting at the home of Mr and Mrs Van Bakers on Friday November 27.
A. J. Frederick purchased the Galt House building from J. W. Poling of Ansonia last week. Frederick has spent several weeks in Miami and expects to return to Carey by December.
The bazaar hosted by Our Lady of Consolation Church on Monday and Tuesday evenings drew large crowds and cleared a substantial sum of money.
Herman Gibbs constructs a six room house on his lot located just south of the E B Kurtz residence. The project details include room count and location within the neighborhood.
On Tuesday the Hocking Valleys double track through Carey opened, completing the line from Fostoria to Columbus. Carey motorists face hazards crossing two tracks on several main streets and nearby roads, with learned caution required as drivers adapt to two trains passing in succession.
The Crawford Ridge farm bureau holds its annual meeting Friday at 8:00 PM in the high school auditorium. The 4 H achievement program follows with 35 members receiving certificates and club pins. Louise Romig and Bernice Heck will receive gold medals for clothing demonstrations.
The city reports 27 new houses built or under construction this year. Builders note a continuing housing shortage and rents staying high amid steady activity.
Captain George Gardner along with Hop Smith and Tom Sawyer end their Ohio University careers in the Friday clash with Wittenberg. Gardner, a Carey, Ohio product, has played four years and endured two dislocated shoulders while anchoring the line as a tackle. Despite injuries, he has been a consistent hard fighter and star for the Green and White. Gardner is the son of Mr and Mrs George Gardner of North Street.
The Kiwanis Club met Tuesday noon with strong attendance. Everett Kemp of Kansas City spoke urging better law enforcement and community welfare. Dr W N Johnson named J D Ewing and George Ash to chair the nominating committee for next week's officer election. The club voted to back a $300 loan for a promising local student headed for the ministry. I G Ranger donated the day’s prize drawn by Kemp. The annual election is set for next Monday.
The American Legion Auxiliary holds its November meeting at Legion rooms Monday evening November 30. An officer election for the coming year will be held. All members urged to attend. Social committee includes Mrs Paul Krupp, Mrs A B Ryder, Mrs Russell Gottfried and Mrs W L Lindsay.
The union Thanksgiving services will be held Wednesday evening November 25 at the Methodist church. Rev J E Cole the pastor will deliver the sermon and special music will be furnished by the ladies octette.
The W B A order will meet at the hall Wednesday night November 25 instead of Friday. All members are urged to attend for important business. The Isaak Walton League held a banquet at the Moose hall Tuesday evening.
A large Carey High crowd packed the field as Upper Sandusky visited for a stubborn game. Carey tried passes late while Upper showcased a tougher line and more first downs, with key plays by Snyder at center and Wentling on Carey’s defense. Nine seniors from both teams faced their last high school game tomorrow against Liberty High.
A Studebaker sedan owned by W A Keniggey was stolen Saturday near John Simonis’ soft drink parlor on S Vance street. A pursuing D C Henry noted two nervous youths in a car, verified a license plate match to the stolen Studebaker, and found an Essex coach abandoned on W Findlay street. A second Essex theft in Bowling Green yielded another Findlay abandonment. All three jobs are linked, with the Kennerley car fueled and ready for miles.

The program features a piano solo by Mrs A G Tozer songs devotionals a choir reading by Mrs W M Green a solo by Miss Lucy Laughlin remarks by Rev A G Tozer and a playlet Flow Circle Three Got a Vision performed by the society
Ruby Geraldine Turnbell and William Geckle were married Saturday afternoon by Rev. N W Sager at the Evangelical parsonage in Up per Sandusky. The bride wore poudre blue with silver trim. The couple will reside here as Mr Geckle works at the Federal porcelain plant.
Carey Lodge of the Loyal Order of Moose announces a special Friday evening meeting to honor supreme officer Frank P. Lutz. He will visit the lodges to explain the Moose order’s work and deliver remarks. Friends of the order are invited. A light lunch will be served by Ladies of Mooseheart Legion after the meeting.
Carl Schira drove a Chrysler from Detroit on Monday evening. The car won in the Carey Times subscription contest judged by officials including Ro E Smiley.
Mr and Mrs Nial Kader welcomed a 60 pound son Friday morning at Findlay Home and Hospital. The baby was named Robert.
A Thanksgiving dance is planned at Moose Hall on Thursday night November 26. Admission is 100 per couple with a 2 cent extra for a lady.
Carey Lodge No 420 F and A M will hold an election of officers at its regular meeting today. The fraternal body invites members to attend and participate in the process.
