Charles Mabey, longtime Carey resident since 1963, began duties as village administrator succeeding George Dunn who resigned August 6 after 12 years. Approved October 21 with a $9,500 annual salary. Mabey’s background includes leadership roles in Butler New Jersey and extensive experience in electronics, manufacturing, and plant management. Recounts Sought in Six Upper Sandusky Precincts
Harold E. Shuman of Upper Sandusky filed with the County Board of Elections for a recount in six city precincts of the county commissioner race. He lost to Willis Binan by 23 votes, 4212 to 4235, and deposited the funds to cover the process. The six precincts will be counted in a set order, with an option to end the recount at any time.

Carey council approves income tax to fund city operations

A small kitchen fire at 325 W Findlay Street, the Carl Cupps’ home, was reported at 3 30 p m on November 13. Grease in a frying pan ignited causing smoke damage to the kitchen. Eight firefighters contained the blaze with no injuries reported.
