Rev Lonsway to Attend Conference on Vocations

Father Francis A. Lonsway a 30 year old Conven tual Franciscan priest and director of research at Bellarmine Ursuline College in Louisville will join eleven other experts at a November 3 to 5 conference at the University of Dayton. The event is sponsored by CARA and Serra International to address recruitment and perseverance in the ministry. He has published works on seminarians and vocational literature.

Library Board Welcomes Klingel as New Member

The Dorcas Carey Library Board met in regular session and welcomed Mrs. Robert Klingel to fill the vacancy caused by Sister Mary Joan's resignation. Memorial gifts were announced for several community members, and the books have been shelved for public viewing.

Husted family attend state convention of medical technologists

Mr and Mrs Jerry Husted and their daughter attended the Ohio State Society of American Medical Technologists convention in Columbus November 8 to 10 at the Holiday Inn. Lectures covered diabetes detection Rho-GAM serum standardization and chromosomal analysis. Shirley works at The Children’s Medical Center in Dayton and Jerry at Warner Chilcott Laboratories. they are among 600 Ohio AMT registered technologists.

Ken Stahl Is Claimed By Death

Kenneth Stahl, 42, of 141 W North St Findlay, died after collapsing from a heart attack while driving on W North St. His car hit a tree and rested in a yard at 320 W North St. Coroner H A Rhodes ruled death from heart attack before the mishap. Surviving are his wife Ruth and children Elizabeth Denise Diane Joan and Kurt. Funeral at Christ Lutheran Church in Carey with burial at Oakwood Cemetery Fremont. Bristoll Funeral Home in charge.

Dr Vogel outlines Secret Service protection history

Dr Ralph Vogel spoke to the Carey Kiwanis Club on November 11 detailing how the Secret Service protects presidents, vice presidents, and elects. He noted the service began in 1901 after McKinley's assassination, growing from three to thirty agents with shifts to ensure constant coverage and even risking their lives. He cited President Johnson's commendation after Kennedy's assassination and a dramatic incident in a car.

Ralph W. Smiley 51, formerly of Carey and a Tulsa resident, died November 5 1968. Born November 27 1916 in Carey he married Martha Derr in 1937. Survived by wife, daughters Judy Orians and Glenda Smiley, sons Richard Rodger and Billy Lee deceased, grandchild Tamela Orians, and siblings. Rollo Kimmel Retires From C and O Railroad

Rollo Kimmel of Carey area retires after 40 years with C and O Railroad begun July 1925 when part of Hocking Valley. He and wife Verna live on W Findlay St. He has siblings Henry, Hattie, Ruth and belongs to Brotherhood of Railroad Maintenance Workers. The Kimmels enjoy antiques and hunting fishing and refinish items. retirement may prompt relocation.

Minor Parking Accidents Reported on Crabapple and Vance Streets

A 6:10 p.m. on November 6 on Crabapple Drive a 66% Chevy backing into a parked 66 Ford caused 35 dollars damage to Myers car and 50 dollars to Charles Heck’s vehicle. A 12:20 a.m. on November 3 a backing out on N Vance Street hit Walter Phillips’s auto with minor damage on Brown Avenue.

Court Records From Mayer's Randolf Street Fined and Bond Posted

Mayer court records report several fines and bonds. Individuals fined include a resident on Findlay Street for assault with a $100 fine and costs, a Row charge with $75 suspended on good behavior, and Rosendo Amaya on Route 1 fined $50 plus costs with $15 suspended on good behavior. Wyandot County Races and Tax Issues In Local Elections

Voters rejected a $5 license plate fee and a .1 mill county health levy while county offices saw winners Mark Kauble and Edna Huffman. Commissioner results favored Harry Gilliland, with Shuman narrowly trailing. Carey backed school renewals and tax levies, and liquor and wine measures largely failed amid varied precinct results. Local options in Carey Precincts C and E failed, Vanlue supported school taxes, and transfers to merge with Carey were debated.
