Russell Schmuck of Columbus died November 3 1968 in that city. He was born October 5 1890 in Carey to John and Susan Schmuck. Survived by daughter Mrs Romedel Muirhead of Columbus, one grandchild, two brothers Ralph and Willis Schmuck, and sister Mrs Mary Dame. Funeral today at 1 p.m. Evans Funeral Home. Burial in Springrove Cemetery.

Charles Mabey took the oath as Village Administrator at a Monday council meeting administered by Village law director Fred Cassel. He succeeds George Dunn who resigned two months ago. Carey Jaycees members Louis Hoopf and Tom Moffett asked for suggested projects. The Jaycees previously built benches with village lumber. Council read bids for electric substation equipment and awarded 10 silicon rectifiers at 212 dollars each and 1 circuit breaker at 2940 dollars. General Electric awarded the contract. The village will seek energy bids from Ohio Power and consider an ordinance. Council approved paying Ohio Engineering 2000 dollars for street black topping and sealing. Mayor Peiffer announced Fireman III Roger Mullholand and Electric Department hire John Shilling. Jim Smith named as relief fireman. Police reports for September and October listed numerous incidents including traffic stops, accidents, vandalism, theft, and arrests.

Firemen Called To Shed Fire Near County Road 16
Carey Fire Department responded at 8 30 a m October 31 to extinguish a shed fire on County Road 16. The blaze had already been put out by National Lime and Stone employees. The same shed had burned a few days earlier.

Parking Accident Investigated on W Findlay Street
At 1 47 pm on November 1 Bertha Crumrine of Adrian backed from a space in front of the Lutheran Church on W Findlay Street and struck a Parked 65 Dodge owned by Donald Robison Route 2. The crash caused $90 damage to the Drumline 59 Chevy and $110 to Robison's auto.

Ralph B. Baker 64 of Wharton died on arrival at Wyandot Memorial Hospital after a heart attack on Wednesday October 23 1968. He was co owner of Baker Lumber Co and a lifelong resident born June 6 1904. He married Gail Schoenberger in 1944 and survived by two sons and several siblings.
