A local auto driver, after nearly striking a boy on a bicycle, prompts a review of bicycle rules. Police Chief Henry Pieracini advises cyclists may ride sidewalks or streets in Carey but favor sidewalks for safety. When on streets, ride with traffic. at night use a headlight and a taillight or reflector. Bicyclists on sidewalks should yield to pedestrians, avoid riding close to business district buildings, not place bikes on sidewalks, and keep pedestrians from stepping around them.
