Carey F H A entertains parents with potluck program

The Carey Chapter Futura Homemakers of America held a potluck supper and a snappy program on Monday evening November 10. Donna MacGread welcomed guests, Phyllis Vaughn Dortha Wilson Evelyn Wilson and Marlene Lee sang as a vocal trio, Susanne Krupp performed a monologue, and an emblem ceremony was led by Barbara Platt Margaret Hucke Patsy Kurtz Virginia Albus Carole Walter Donna Nye Joyce Savidge Jeannine Brown Nancy Bauer Sue Gibson Sandra Bauer. Intramural Games Highlight Gym Class Tournaments

The class tournaments have ended with champions in badminton. Noon badminton games pair boys and girls and proceed at full speed. Girls in gym classes begin shooting baskets as intramural basketball approaches, a yearly highlight for the Zins.

Senior Class Party Held Friday Night

The first senior class party of the year was held Friday in the auditorium with a Thanksgiving theme. Games and dancing entertained attendees as refreshments of cider and doughnuts were served by the refreshments committee. Class sponsors Miss Helen Smith and Miss Thelma Clagett attended.

Revival Begins Monday at St. Paul’s Church

Revival services start Monday at 7 30 p m in St. Paul s E U B Church seven miles west of Carey or two miles south of Vantlue led by Rev C C Nichols of Upper Sandusky. Evening social by the young people accompanies each night and Rev V J Lathey is pastor.

Carey Merchants Launch Christmas Window Night 1930s

Carey businessmen launch Christmas promotions including Treasure Hunt on Friday, December 5, and Window Shopping Night with store displays and prizes. Tickets issued free starting November 21. drawings held December 5 and 6. Santa visits tree on Findlay and Vance streets with children’s orders.

Village Council Approves Off Street Parking Plan

The village council approved an off street parking space on the N Vance street lot across from the municipal building owned by the federal government. The businessmen's association urged the improvement to aid shoppers. Trees will be cut down drive and parking area surfaced for the Christmas season. Councilman Harry Rook and Mr Ridley then attended talks in Tiffin with Ohio Municipal League officials led by secretary Allen E Pritchard Jr. The league aims to improve cities and villages and Carey recently joined the group.

Thanksgiving clothing drive announced by Catholic groups

The National Council of Catholic Women and the Christian Mothers Society of Our Lady of Consolation parish sponsor the annual drive from November 23 to 30. Requested items include blankets heavy clothing and socks with contributions accepted at the pavilion by November 30. The council notes past aid worldwide including Vatican shipments and War Relief Services distribution.

Six Wyandot youths undergo pre induction medicals in Toledo

Six young men registered with the Wyandot county selective service board traveled to Toledo on November 18 for pre induction physical examinations. The examinees were Justin Bernard Snyder of Forest, James Wilson Leslie of Upper Sandusky Route 3, Arnold Earl Riedel of Sycamore Route 3, Paul Quail Clinger of Upper Sandusky Route 6, Herbert Ray Stansbery of Upper Sandusky Route 6, and Bill McKenzie of West Middletown. McKenzie was listed for re examination.

The annual community Thanksgiving service will be held at Memorial E. U. B. Church at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday November 26. The Rev John A Root of Christ Lutheran Church will preach with assistants from Memorial Church and First Methodist Church. Deaconess Sister Alma Boarts to Speak at Christ Lutheran

Sister Alma Boarts of Glenwood Lutheran Church will be guest speaker at Christ Lutheran's Thank Offering services this Sunday at 8 15 and 10 30 a m. Born in Baltimore in 1923 she was consecrated a deaconess after training there and has since served Glenwood and various women’s organizations in the synod of Ohio. Carey Board Moves Into New School Building Plan

At the November meeting the Carey board of education approved actions to start a new building program. They notified the Wyandot county auditor to set a tax rate for state approval and moved to draft the bond sale resolution. Bonds may be sold in February 1953 with construction possibly starting next May after required legal steps.

Whitenack Aids Evangelistic Mission Return Home

The Rev. D. V. Whitenack returns Friday from Cleveland where he assisted with the Evangelistic Mission at Wade Park Methodist Church. The nationwide Methodist effort aims to spark deeper faith and Christian citizenship, stressing prayer and religion as life’s key. It has run in several districts and will reach Toledo in February.
