Roger Woods received injuries to his left leg and neck after a collision with a car at 11 50 p m May 19 at the Nance and South intersection. The car driver Robert Louis King Carey was cited. Damages totaled 300 dollars to both vehicles.
Dr. Talmadge R. Huston of 110 S. Patterson Street is re-elected to active membership in the American Academy of General Practice after completing 150 hours of postgraduate study. Separately, 10-year-old Julia Renee Karg of Carey is killed by a shotgun blast in her home. investigators ruled the death accidental, citing a family dog triggering the gun while the girl held it. The shotgun was a .12 gauge pump gun, and no foul play is suspected.
The eighty third annual Carey High School commencement will feature Rev Paul Jones of Hillsboro Ohio delivering the address. Jones a New Boston native and Butler University graduate holds an honorary doctorate from Milligan College and serves as Hillsboro minister. He is noted in Who's Who in the Midwest and has recent election to the International Platform Association. Also listed is a $10 reward for personal papers lost at Carey High School, with contact to Darlene Risner.
The Memorial Park swimming pool will open Friday May 30 at 1 00 p m with season tickets for families priced at 20 00 adults over 12 at 8 00 juniors under 12 at 6 00 and general admission 50 cents for adults and 30 cents for juniors The pool will be staffed by local high school personnel with Miss Sandra Watkins as manager and several assistants Life Guard staff hold Senior Lifesaving Certificates Hours are 1 00 5 00 pm 6 30 9 00 pm five days a week and Saturdays 1 00 5 00 pm Calendar notes include council action on a quarterly income tax report and the resignation of Patrolman Buckingham effective June 1 plus other town matters
Mrs Ida Belle Gamel of Carey area celebrates a birthday. Born May 28 1886 in Salem she has one son Norman and a grandson Larry Gamel plus a granddaughter Mrs William Lambert of Upper Sandusky and six great grandchildren. She recently returned home after a hospital visit for a fractured pelvis and has long enjoyed radio and reading. The Gamels have been married over sixty years.
Millard Boyer of 504 Dearbaugh Ave Wapakoneta was found dead in his car in the garage at his mother's home by a neighbor at 5 30 am. Cause given as carbon monoxide overdose. Born Nov 14 1931 in Wapakoneta to Roy and Phyllis Plyman Boyer. Survived by mother a sister Mrs Carl Glaskas Indianapolis Ind brothers William Beard Lima Elmer Beard Louisville Ky Ford Boyer Joliet Ill son Thomas Boyer and daughter Arlene Boyer both of Wapakoneta Funeral held 2 30 pm Monday May 26 at Heiri Funeral Parlor burial Greenlawn Cemetery.
The Summer Reading Club for Carey children and surrounding community opens registration Monday June 2 at the library. Eligible readers from first grade through seventh grade may join, borrow books immediately, and earn club credits after reading set numbers of books by July 3.

Airman Donald L. Dible USN, son of Mr and Mrs. David L Dible of Carey Ohio, graduated from the Aviation Electricians School at the Naval Air Technical Training Center in Jacksonville Florida after study of electricity electronics aircraft wiring and instruments plus refresher courses in mathematics and physics. Memorial Day observance announced with parade at 9:00 a.m. at the Legion Home and lunch to follow chaired by Commander Mel Roynon.
