Navy enlistment for Paul Burson from Carey

Redicks Attend Army Commission Ceremony In Columbus
Mr and Mrs H E Redick of five miles northwest of Carey traveled to Columbus for the Army commissions ceremony. Their son Harold Redick received a commission as Second Lieutenant in the Signal Corps and is a senior at Ohio State University majoring in accounting and affiliated with Beta Alpha Psi. Water Main Break Cuts Off Village Supply
A water main at the New York Central crossing of E South Street broke Tuesday evening, causing a large water loss. Crews repaired the line by 5 am Wednesday and turned water off at midnight. A Soda Grill ice cream freezer unit overheated causing damage to the motor condenser and cabinet. Mrs. Cleo Green reported smoke and the fire department quickly extinguished the blaze. Loss insured.

Memorial Day Observance by American Legion Post 344
American Legion Post 344 will observe Memorial Day on Saturday May 30 with a 9 am assembly at 8S Vance Street and a 9:15 am parade to Spring Grove Cemetery in a procession led by Colors Band Firing Squad Spanish American War veterans and others.
