Girl Reserves Banquet Honors Mothers

The Girl Reserves held a Tuesday banquet in honor of mothers with about 86 mothers and daughters in attendance.

Knights of Columbus hold 43rd state convention in Columbus

Grand Knight J A Vaughn District Deputy C R Lonsway and Delegate John Greer attended the 43rd annual state convention in Columbus. The body voted to invest surplus state council funds in War Savings bonds and approved use of camp facilities for soldiers near military camps. State officers led by James P Lavey were re elected for a second term. a full convention report will be given at the local council meeting Tuesday May 26.

Submarine Service Duty For Bud Nye Navy Wake

Mr and Mrs John Nye of Worel le street received a letter from their son John W Bud Nye in the United States Navy. Bud enlisted June 1941 and completed a machinist assistant course at Norfolk Virginia, then studied submarine service and diesel motors at New London Connecticut before arriving May 3 in San Diego California to join a submarine on the West Coast.

Richard Lewis McKinnon 23 hospital apprentice first class United States Navy is listed as missing and presumed prisoner of war after serving in the Manila area during the war. Poppy Day Urges Remembrance And Support For Veterans

Three Hewett brothers from the Carey area join the armed forces. Nelson, 19, enlisted in the Navy and is at Great Lakes. Pagles Dance Night Promises War Bond Door Prizes
