An unreadable newspaper fragment lists sponsors and staff positions including Mr G A Hartman Mrs Dorothy Hast EGIL OF and editors Rose Marie Davis Jerry Hunter Mapes and John Wedge with stray characters and partial names.
Thursday evening May 10 the Carey High School Concert Band and Orchestra were honored at a Band Mothers banquet. Tables featured miniature bass drums and band member replicas while Richard Downs spoke on The Value of Band Work. Awards were given by director Lewis Hawk and gold charms awarded to senior members by Mrs Perry Mc Daniel.
The G A A held its annual banquet on May 9 at Gibbins Restaurant with guests including Mr. and Mrs. Cloyce Wentling and past president Norma Strahm. The program featured tap dancing, a solo, and class farewell songs, followed by officer elections and awards for outstanding members and ideal girls across classes.
The Carey Band Mothers hosted 27 Cadet Band members for an afternoon picnic in Memorial Park on May 12. The event featured contests games and a lunch served by the Band Mothers with awards presented to each member by Mr Hawk.
Atty. Paul A. Burson was elected vice-president of the Ohio Junior Chamber of Commerce at the state convention in Columbus. He will oversee about 13 Northwestern Ohio local groups, join the state executive board, and appoint at least two state committees. Joe Newhard campaigned for him alongside Dr. H. R. Wenner and Rex Huston. The Carey Jaycees also named new officers for 1951 1952 led by President Joe Newhard and Vice-President Allan Smith Jr.
Kenny Baker will be soloist on The Inevitable Victory program from the Christian Science series Origins in Los Angeles. It will air Sunday at 9 30 a m on WBNS Columbus 1460 or WPAY Portsmouth 1400.
The American Legion auxiliary will meet at 8 00 p m next Monday in the Legion hall Mrs L L Bland Hach will present a legislative program and each member is asked to bring a small gift to serve as a prize All members are urged to attend for a successful meeting.
The Young Adult Lutherans will meet at 730 p m Sunday May 27 in the home of Mr and Mrs Dale Thomas southwest of Carey with Mr and Mrs Jack Dean assisting An interesting program is being planned and new officers will be elected

The children of Our Lady of Consolation School honor Father Ambrose Finnegan with a Sunday reception in the Catholic hall. The program includes songs by grades seven and eight and various classroom performances, a spiritual bouquet, gift, and a Jubilee queen with attendants.

Parents are invited to bring children starting in grade one next year to a pre school medical examination at the Colonel Crawford building from 1 00 PM to 4 00 PM on Monday May 28 or Tuesday May 29 The clinic welcomes all beginning pupils regardless of their school affiliation.
The Carey Boys 4-H club will meet at 8 p m Monday May 28 at the high school. Members will sign up for projects and dues for the year will be collected. All members and boys wishing to join are urged to be present.
The Very Rev Ambrose Finnegan OFM Conv rector of the Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation at Carey will celebrate his silver ordination jubilee with a solemn Mass for relatives and parishioners on May 27 at 10 30 EST. A reception and dinners follow for clergy and guests. Father Ambrose born December 26 1902 has served as pastor in Lorain and since 1942 as superior and rector at Carey.
Miss Sally Jaster valedictorian of Carey high school graduates among more than 50 students awarded freshman scholarships to Heidelberg College for the coming year. Awards cover one quarter or one half of tuition based on scholastic ability leadership and character shown in high school.

Lionel Brashares prepared the stage, wrote the script, and assisted. Nora Brashares of Carey attended from Friday to Tuesday, preserving photos from the performance.
Early Monday morning Glenn Barger sighted four small Pennsylvania type deer on Sunnyside road and they crossed into a Romig pasture west of Carey. The Romig family observed them as they moved west toward the old Findlay branch railroad. Ruth Kloepfer also saw the four deer Saturday evening near the Vincent Orians farm crossing to woods.

Mrs Harry Rook leads the local effort in Carey with disabled veterans producing the flowers for rehabilitation and child welfare funds.
Carey Shuffleboard Club directors met at the municipal building on Friday evening May 18 and set a $2.00 per person fee for the 1951 season to fund courts and supplies. No players under 18. Bernard's furniture store has opened a new storage room in the Keller block on E Findlay street replacing the former Keller Memorial Studio. The front area is used for display while the rear serves as storage. Frank Karcher resigned and joined Gar Wood Industries. James Brown, son of Mrs. Jack McKee, succeeds him after graduating from Carey High School.
The Carey Farmers' Community club will meet Monday evening May 28 at the K of C hall. Walter Klein Gerald Kaufman and Allan Baker will lead the program, with Wes ley Wonder Floyd Shetler and Delmar Grubel providing refreshments. Harvey Savidge secretary treasurer.
