Confirmation and First Communion at Our Lady of Concillation Church

Bishop Alter conferred confirmation on 84 youths and 8 adults at Our Lady of Concillation Church on Tuesday at 7 30 pm. Choir from the parish school aided the service and benediction ended with Te Deum. Last Sunday 20 children received first holy communion at 8 9 mass celebrated by Rev Ambrose Finnegan.

Milton Stillberger Assigned to Fifth Air Force Over in Philippines

Staff Sergeant Milton W Still berger 26 husband of Twila Stillberger of Vanlue Ohio and son of H J and Mrs Stillberger of Alvada Ohio arrived overseas to join the Fifth Air Force as an expert in maintenance. Public at School News Highlights Senior Events and Exams

The freshman class hosted a party in the sleigh school cafeteria with chaperons Mr and Mrs Wentling. F F A sponsored a dance in honor of the FLA at Cathie Hall. Semester exams are set for May 25 and 28 with early dismissal Monday. Lucia Grieser was absent Monday. Farewell chapel is Friday at 2 34, Baccalaureate Sunday May 27 at 8 15, and commencement May 31 at 7 15 in the school auditorium. Senior class took a two day vacation for graduation prep and held a class party Tuesday evening.

Knights of Pythias News Regular Meeting Report

Justus lodge No 293 Knights of Pythias held a May 16 meeting at Castle Nat. Visitors from Findlay Arcadia Sycamore and Nevada attended and Knight rank was conferred by visiting members. Refreshments followed and members were urged to attend weekly meetings and the Wednesday 8:30 p.m. Castle Hall entertainment is open to all.

Poppy Day Appeals Across Nation Saturday May 26

American Legion Auxiliary volunteers led by Mrs. L. G. Altwater will distribute poppies on Poppy Day to honor soldiers of both World Wars. Disabled veterans at Sandusky Soldiers and Sailors Home prepared the flowers, funds support rehabilitation and welfare for families of the dead and disabled.

Carey to vote on city manager plan again

Village council approved funds for a special election to decide if Carey should adopt a city manager form of government. The vote will occur on Tuesday July 31 alongside the primary election after petitions signed by about 179 voters. Carey previously rejected the plan in two elections.

Wounded Pvt Carl Musgrave Returns on Furlough

Pvt Carl A Musgrave age 34 wounded at St Veith Luxembourg on December 23 1914 arrived in Carey on May 4 on a 304 day furlough visiting his parents Mr and Mrs Henry Musgrave. He was wounded in the left arm and both legs and sent to hospitals in England Manhattan L L Camp Kilmer N J and Flete General Hospital Cambridge Ohio arriving April 20. He will return to Cambridge June 4. He belongs to Co M 347th Infantry 87th Division Gen Patton's 3rd Army and entered service March 11, 1944.
