More than 2 000 pilgrims from Shelby Crestline Galion Bucyrus and nearby towns joined processions at the Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation. Parishes led by banners carried Litany invocations while children and choir followed in rosary recitals and hymns. May crowning occurred and new members joined the Confraternity. Solemn Mass at 9 30 am and relic blessing at 2 30 pm marked the events with concluding benediction and upcoming novena.
Ed Houck Sam Baille and Mike Vonick aged 17 to 20 from Bellville Michigan were in a high speed wreck five miles north of Carey on Route 23 at 4 00 this morning. The car struck a telephone pole shearing it off 20 feet high and two occupants were thrown through the windshield. Houck was pinned beneath the overturned vehicle Baillo was thrown about ten feet. They were taken to Fostoria hospital with serious injuries. Arend family alerted night police Mullholand and Briggs who investigated the mishap.
Deputy Sheriff Paul Frey of Upper Sandusky and Marshal Robert O Connor of Carey traveled to Kirksville Missouri to take into custody Paul De Amicis son of Mr and Mrs Benny De Amicis of East Findlay Street. The youth had been picked up by police there and had often left home and was under juvenile court observation. The De Amicis home was the scene of a stabbing affray over three weeks ago.
The auxiliary unit of Earl Green post American Legion will hold its regular meeting on Monday evening, May 27, at the Legion hall on B Findlay street. Chairwoman Elm er Messmer leads the committee aided by Mrs. R. W. Exline Mrs. J. A. Schira and Mrs. Robert O'Connor.
Lois 8 daughter of Mr and Mrs Perl Snook of Frederick street submitted to a serious operation Monday forenoon at Findlay Home and Hospital. Lois has been very ill for several weeks with complications following scarlet fever.
A Wyandot County Conservation League gathering is scheduled for Monday evening May 27 at 8:30. The meeting will be held at the Catholic hall and is open to league members and anyone interested in conservation.
Miss Coretta Powell of W Findlay Street is a patient at Findlay Home and Hospital recovering from a major operation she underwent last Thursday at the facility.

Commencement for the class of 1935 will begin Sunday evening May 26 with a baccalaureate service at the Methodist church. Rev N W Sager will preach for the graduating class and faculty. Commencement takes place Tuesday evening May 28 at the high school auditorium with Dean Clyde Hissong from Bowling Green delivering the address. Admission is free with reserved seats for family and friends. The baccalaureate program lists organ preludes, scripture, sermons, and prayers. The senior class play Lucky Dollars will be shown Friday evening May 24 at the high school auditorium with cast members named in the program.
The community is urged to wear a poppy on Saturday May 25 to honor World War I dead and to donate to war veterans and dependents. Boy Scouts Troops 22 and 29 will canvass neighborhoods and streets to collect contributions funding disabled veterans.
Carey Dodge Motors aim for season opener against Lima Pirates after a 6 to 3 win at Findlay. Parsell pitches for Carey supported by Orians and Messmer. Elias Arnold back behind plate. Gates set for Sunday 2 30 at the rubber plant diamond with 25c men and 10c women admission.
A regular meeting of the Carey Farmers Community club will be held Monday evening, May 27, at the Moose hall on N Vance street. A committee led by Allan Baker, H P Bardon, and Ralph Brown has arranged a talk by Earl G Reed, New York Central agricultural agent from Columbus. Miss Dorcas Baker and Miss Rita Brown provide musical entertainment. Eats served by H J Wolfe, Wendell Wentling and J A Vaughn.
The primary department of the Methodist Sunday school has been dismissed until scarlet fever abates, also the beginners and junior departments. Parents with children in these departments please note.
Mrs. Ida Motter announces the marriage of her grandson Marion H. Motter of Wharton to Miss Helen Elizabeth Failor of Upper Sandusky. The ceremony took place March 30 in Maysville Kentucky. Marion is the son of Mr and Mrs Dale Motter of north of Wharton.
Mr Wm Zahn of West Findlay Street was submitted to a major operation Tuesday morning at the Home and Hospital Findlay. The procedure was performed by Dr J V Hartman.
Mr and Mrs Maine Brininger announce plans to keep their dry cleaning business in Carey and will not relocate. AMTaB had indicated a move earlier but the couple confirmed they will remain in the community.
Graduation for the eighth grade at Our Lady of Consolation will be held during the 7:30 Mass at the church on Sunday. The program includes hymns, flower offerings by Mary Ellen Kurtz, an act of consecration, a speech by Fr Paul Vollrath, and presentation of diplomas by Fr Paul. The Thomas Hucknell Co of Stanford Conn has leased the Galt hotel and grill from J M McNulty who leaves for Albany Ga to run a hotel in Griffin Ga Mrs McNulty and husband depart this week The new manager is Jean J Marceis of Stanford Conn The company owns hotels in Norwalk Conn and St Marcus Texas Marceis vows improvements in service Saturday dances and Sunday Colonial room dinners will continue.
An advanced student recital of piano organ and violin at Findlay College Conservatory will be held in the college chapel Thursday evening May 23 at 815. Miss Evelyn Hosafros daughter of Dr and Mrs Harry Hosafros will perform an organ solo Praeludium und Fuge in G minor by J S Bach under instructor Dale Huston supervision.
D A Cole of S Patterson street was taken to the Home and Hospital at Findlay yesterday afternoon for an operation to be performed by Dr J W Hartman this forenoon Mrs Cole accompanied him to the hospital and Mr and Mrs Robert Kreisel of Upper Sandusky Mr and Mrs Harry Bristoll and Mr and Mrs Harold Dible will go to Findlay this morning to be at the hospital during the operation.
Carey Moose members visited the Fostoria lodge on Sunday as 18 candidates received the first degree. A party and dance planned for Thursday night was postponed indefinitely. On Monday evening June 3 a large class will be initiated at Findlay. All Carey lodge members are expected to attend the trip.
An 8 pound daughter born to Mr and Mrs Wilfrid Stombaugh at their Findlay street home Saturday evening was christened Phyllis Roberta at Our Lady of Consolation Church Sunday afternoon by Rev Fr Wenceslaus Hertvik. Miss Lucille Derr and Robert Stombaugh served as sponsors.
The Carey Times announces publication on Wednesday morning May 29 due to Memorial Day. All correspondence should reach the office by Monday and all ad copy by Tuesday noon.
A social session with beano will follow the regular Pythian Sisters meeting this evening at their hall on S Patterson Street. A large attendance is desired.
Double tracking on the A. C. and Y. line between here and Delphos will provide summer employment for 30 or more Carey men. The work will involve laying new rails and ties and improving the railway corridor.
Mass will be held at 9:00 in the morning and again Sunday evening at St Joseph's Church Salem.
Memorial Day activities led by Rev. Fr. Cyprian and local organizations for May 30. Paul Herbert of Columbus to give the memorial address at 10 15 am during dedication of the new Legion Memorial at Spring Grove cemetery. Parade assembles at the high school at 9 am. ceremonies include bands, prayers, wreath placing, salute and taps. Most businesses close for the day. Carey Times to publish Wednesday morning.
Ten members of the local Kiwanis club joined about 200 Northwestern Ohio delegates in Port Clinton for the district convention at United Brethren church. Lieut. Governor Claude Bronson spoke as a principal address and a radio talk by Dr. William J. Carrington was heard. Local participants included W. G. Riley and L. E Treece among others.
Members of the Sophomore home economics class were entertained Tuesday with a three course dinner prepared and served by the Freshman foods class and teacher Miss Orpha Heath. Tables were decorated with lilacs and candles.
The 1985 Caryatids year book has been distributed to advertisers and subscribers. It is dedicated to Miss Mattie Myers, retired junior high teacher, and described as a very attractive piece of work.
On Tuesday evening June 4 at W Z Campbells office in the township room on N Vance street Republicans will meet in caucus to select candidates for municipal offices to be filled at the November election.
