Carey High School Alumni Dance and Reception Planned

The Carey High School Alumni association schedules a reception and dance for Saturday May 24 at 9 30 p m in the school auditorium. Admission is 75 cents per person. Al Cleveland and his orchestra will provide music. Tickets available at Harry's Drug Mapes Rexall Drug or the Gas office.

Carey High School to Install Local Honor Society Chapter

The Carey High School chapter of the National Honor Society will be installed this year after local constitution approval. Juniors and seniors are eligible for full membership with a probationary path for selected sophomores. Superior Rating Awarded to Joan Cole in State Finals

Joan Cole a soprano from Carey earned a superior rating at the Ohio State University finals in Columbus among 21 contestants. She performed Call Me No More by Charles Wakefield Cadman with Jo-Anne Frazier of Carey on piano. Locker men meet at Carey plant in Northwestern Ohio

Eight cold storage locker plants in Northwestern Ohio gathered May 12 at the Carey Cooperative Foods Lockers plant. They discussed fruit and vegetable processing, meat handling, and packaging procedures. The Carey plant reported the lowest processing charge at 2.5 cents per pound, while some plants charged as high as 5 cents per pound for beef.

Dr Harold L Yochum native of Fostoria became Capital University president in 1946 after a career as educator pastor and district leader. He studied at Capital and Ohio State earning a Master’s and a Bachelor of Divinity before serving Holy Trinity Detroit and Hessville. He has a wife Agathe Pfeiffer and three daughters.

Biglick Memorial Rites Sunday at St John's

Memorial services in Bighick township Hancock county will be held Sunday May 25 at St Johns church cemetery northwest of Carey instead of Union cemetery at West Independence. Services start at 2 pm. Sewage Conference Here Next Tuesday

The Northwestern Ohio conference on sewage treatment will meet in Carey Tuesday May 27. The Carey disposal plant will be inspected in the afternoon, dinner at Pilgrim House at 6 30 pm, and a meeting at 8 pm in the municipal building. A paper by Verne Chesebrough on Carey plant operations and improvements will be presented, with open discussion of examinations for operator licenses held last November.
