Carey Split With Marion Teams In Weekend Doubleheader
Carey traveled to Upper Sandusky for a doubleheader against two Marion teams. In the first game Doppler pitched two innings as Marion Independents built a 4-1 lead before Carey stormed back, tying on Chuck Heck’s homer, then winning 5-4 in the 8th on Lewie Buckingham’s RBI single. In game two Marion’s defense and pitching held Carey to a 6-4 defeat as Lab struggled on the mound. Carey’s season record moves to 3-1 with a trip to Benton Ridge set for Sunday.

Youth Center Opens to Junior High on Tuesday Nights
The Carey Youth Center operates with 55 high school youths as members. It will open only to 7th and 8th graders each Tuesday from 7 to 10 pm with 50 cent tickets. High school members may use the center Wednesday and Friday nights. A donation from the American Legion Auxiliary funded ping-pong sets, and a ping-pong tournament is underway.

Council Buys White Way Lights for Village
The village council ordered 35 Mercury Vapor lights of Westinghouse to replace the White Way lights. Delivery is promised in 30 days for the lights, with arms for bulbs likely delayed another month.
