June 11 to 15 will feature the Redpath program in Carey with music drama and addresses. Highlights include Sladwell's Scout and Huntington group with 20 musicians, George Weider on vibraphone, the New York comedy "Amoromy" at Eltinge Theater, Henry and Company magic act, Elsworth Bailey and C M Sanford talks, Wallace Amsbury wordcraft, Louis Biason leading the Filipino Collegians, Harmony Concert Party, Waters Duo, and new tents for this season.

Unusual House Record Marked by Births and Deaths

Mr and Mrs Arthur Phillips and their children from west of Alvada visited Friday. They have lived on the Tommy Martin farm in a house built 69 years ago with only five families. A birth occurred three years ago and a second birth followed. No one was ever born or died in the house before then, and Harold Phillips died at Findlay Home after an operation, the first funeral held there.

Dible and Walters Wed at Trinity Evangelical Parsonage

Miss Susan Dible daughter of Mr and Mrs Walter Dible and Niall Walters of Ridge township were married Wednesday morning at 10 30 o'clock at the Trinity Evangelical parsonage by Rev N W Sager. The couple were unattended and will reside in Tiffin where the bridegroom is a machinist.

Operation at Findlay Hospital For Patient Miss Blue

Miss Mary Catherine Blue underwent a morning operation at Findlay Hospital. The procedure lasted about ninety minutes and was performed by Dr. Hartman, with Dr. R. C. Van Buren of Carey assisting. Her parents, Mr and Mrs Almon Blue, were present and report she is progressing as well as could be expected.

The Seniors dominate the inter class meet with 80344 points while Juniors Sophomores and Freshmen trail with 3844 31 and 13 points. R Gardner senior led with 18 points and Dale Robinson junior second with 16. Events include sprints distances hurdles javelin broad jump and relays with multiple performers named and times and distances recorded.

Civics Class Tour to Columbus with Planetarium Talk

Sixteen senior civics students plus Miss Hearn and Mr. Postle traveled to Columbus last Friday. They visited the Harding Memorial in Marion, Ohio State Penitentiary, State Capitol, OSA sites, and the stadium. Evening activities included the Ohio Theatre showing Student Prince. On the return trip they stopped at Perkins Observatory where Prof. Bauer of Otterbein University explained astronomy with moving pictures and viewers used the telescope to observe the moon.

Senior Class Trip Viewed as Worthwhile Excursion

The third largest in the world attracted the class as a sight seeing trip. It proved highly worthwhile and would be a nice experience for every Senior class to take.

High School Award Cup Retained by Debate Team

The high school holds the silver cup won by the debate team this year. Carey has won the cup twice but permanent possession requires three victories, so the trophy remains subject to future competitions and returns.

During the May 6 to 12 National Music Week observance a Monday morning program featured the eighth grade with songs and piano solo by Trelyn Hosafros. The high school selected staff for next year’s Royal Blue and White. May Day and Grade Exhibit Draw Large Crowd

A large crowd witnessed May Day exercises by the girls athletic club at the high school. Each grade displayed items made and studied during the year in the auditorium. Viewers praised the quality and variety of the displays and the progress shown in the grades.

The Carey tennis group reports rapid growth with about 25 members. The club voted to allow tennis fans, not just students, to join. Carl Bame serves as executive. Dues of 50 cents fund general court upkeep.

Columbus Good Will Tour Costs Ten Thousand Dollars

Ten thousand dollars covers the 1928 Good Will Tour of the Manufacturers and Wholesalers Association of the Columbus Chamber of Commerce. About 150 business people travel by special train on a four day, 500 mile trip visiting Carey and other towns as part of the effort.

Carey Village Council Minutes Show Bills Approved

Monday council meeting approved numerous bills for utilities salaries materials and services. Officials discussed fire department remuneration for out of town aid and street drainage projects with a plan to air North street and clean a street drain while awaiting a new surveyor. The mayor reported monthly licenses fines and a highway department traffic light control request and the session adjourned to May 21.

Infant Jack Watkins Dies of Pneumonia Near Town

The infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Watkins died Sunday night at about 7 PM at their northwest town home from pneumonia. He was 1 year 9 months and 24 days old. The remains were taken to Alger for burial.

Carey Wins First Game in Tri County League Opener

Carey opens its season May 6 at Tiro and wins 11 to 7 as eight-team Tri County League action kicks off. R Donelson turned a first inning double play, Wickiser hit a triple, and Myers Orians and Ridge doubled twice each. Hammond pitched well through eight innings before fatigue in the ninth. Carey’s infield key plays helped limit Tiro. Carey hosts Chatfield next Sunday with tryouts announced for Tuesday and Thursday at the rubber plant field.

Mrs Floretta Myton Sutter Dead at 81 in Vanlue

Mrs. Floretta Myton Sutter died at the home of her son-in-law and daughter Mr and Mrs W L Daniels in Vanlue Sunday at 5 p m due to infirmities of age. Born November 24 1846 in DeKalb Ohio she was 81 years 5 months 12 days. She married J S Sutter July 24 1870. he preceded her in death. Surviving are four daughters Mrs J F Egbert Mrs W L Daniels Mrs Charles Gano and Mrs S W Gordon and sister Mrs Lovina Salaway. Funeral at the Daniels home Tuesday at 2 p m burial in St Paul cemetery south of Vanlue.

Fires destroy two structures in Lawrence area reports

Two fires occurred Friday night. The Grove street home of Lawrence Platt burned completely while the contents were lost. Insurance covered 1100 for the house and 700 for goods. A separate blaze struck a west-side Sutphen farm barn, also destroyed, with a man seen fleeing the scene and wind spreading embers toward Forking Valley.

Death of Mike Senick in Hocking Valley bank car

Mike Senick died suddenly Wednesday evening of last week in a Hocking Valley bank car. Authorities attributed the death to heart trouble. He was about 35 years old and was identified by an employment card he carried.
