Carey Issues First Bicycle Licenses After Delays

About 250 bicycle licenses were sold in Carey after a delayed shipment. A misrouted consignment caused the first batch to go to Gary, Indiana, a month late, before arriving in Carey. Frank Paessier of the Flex store bought the first Carey bicycle license.

Legion Post Participates in National Aerial Roundup

In cooperation with the American Legion department of Ohio Earl Greenpost No 344 joined the 11th annual national aerial roundup for new members. Eight new members were named Miss Mary E Calmes Miss Barbara L Kemerley John R Cadwallader John J Wehrs Nelson G Frisch Richard B Hunter Don W Bates and Vincent R Jacob. Names were sent to Columbus by air Sunday afternoon and flown from Tiffin airport to Legion headquarters in Columbus aboard an Ohio National Guard plane.

School superintendents meet in Lima discuss reforms

Carey public schools superintendent G. A. Hartman attended a Northwestern Ohio school superintendents meeting in Lima. Ohio State University educator Dr. Lewis spoke on salarys, Dr Alberty on curriculum trends, Harold L. Bowers outlined 1947-48 certification standards, E L Bowsher discussed Senate Bill 48 on funding the state school foundation law and urged passage.

Local Man Cpl Giles Krupp Receives Honorable Discharge

Cpl Giles Krupp son of Mr and Mrs Vincent Krupp of northwest of Carey was honorably discharged from the US Army May 1 at Fort George G Meade Maryland. After the discharge the Krupp family visited Washington D C and returned to Carey by Sunday evening. Krupp served 17 years with an artillery tank division in Germany in World War II and re enlisted in December 1945 joining the 772nd Reg Band. He was stationed at Carlisle Barracks Pennsylvania and Fort Meade Maryland.
