Memorial Day World War II Honor Roll List To Be Preserved

On May 30 1947 the dismantling of the local memorial will occur. A complete record of area men and women who served between December 7 1941 and September 5 1945 will be published in The Carey Times with corrections directed to the paper or J A Schira commander of Hart Green post No 344 American Legion. A permanent scroll will later replace the current display and a ceremony will include all veterans from the period.

Carey High School Plans 61st Commencement With Class of 47

The 61st annual Carey high school commencement will be held Thursday evening May 22 in the high school auditorium. Dr Harold L Yochum of Capital University will address the class. The 60 graduates include David Arnold Paul Bland Susan Boyce Alva Cicely Claude Lucille De Vene Donna Dible Herbert Dibie Naomi Dible and many others with Stanley Van Buren as class president Leonard Krupp vice president and Ann Schira secretary treasurer.

Carey Schools Band Mothers Club Meeting Reminder

The Band Mothers' club will meet Monday evening at the school. All band mothers beginners juniors and seniors are urged to attend. A dance to raise funds for new band uniforms is planned for Tuesday May 13 with Decker's Red Shirts providing music.

Special notice to pre school pupils

A year ago pre school pupils were invited to visit Carey public school. Pupils now in first grade who attended visitors day last year benefited. Anniversary meeting honors Odd Fellows founders

Carey lodge No 407 I O O F and Palm Leaf Rebekah lodge No 656 held a joint meeting at the I Q O O F hall to mark the 128th anniversary of the Odd Fellows founding by Thomas D Wildey. A G Wisner hosted, with a program, potluck, a reading by Mrs Gertrude Tate, and a Rebekah song. The event followed by cards and games. The I O O F was founded in 1819. Carey lodge organized in 1868 with 15 members and Palm Leaf Rebekah lodge chartered in 1907 with 40 members.

A Lutheran Scout troop 13 Court of Honor is held in the Christ Lutheran parish hall tonight at 7 30. Under Scoutmaster Eugene Wagner the program includes prayer by Rev Wade H Koons pledge of allegiance the Scout Oath and 12 Tenderfoot candidates with badges and investiture. Beckwith Home Sold and Family Leaving Town

The Beckwiths of W North Street have sold their home to Mr and Mrs Sitmon. The Beckwith family Jacqueline Tommy Howard and Firman will move in mid June to Roanoke Virginia where Mr Beckwith becomes supervisor of signals for the Virginian Railroad. They came from Columbus nine years ago and have since worked for the C and O Railroad. the Simonis family on W Findlay Street will move to the new location as soon as the Beckwith house is ready.

Bristoll Starts Brick House West of Mundy Home

Harry Bristoll, who last year built a modern home at Patterson and Frederick streets, has begun a brick house west of George Mundy’s home. Bristoll’s son in law and daughter Mr and Mrs Robert Stombaugh are living in the previous house built last year.
