Emanuel Wentz, superintendent of the Wyandot County home, died Friday at 11 am after a period of ill health. The 55 year old, born in Richland township on July 31 1865, passed from heart trouble and complications. He married Catherine Zahn in 1888 and is survived by her.
We express sincere gratitude to neighbors friends and relatives who assisted us during the illness and death of our loved one. Special thanks to Father Pascal for words of consolation and to those who sent flowers and spiritual bouquets and furnished autos for the funeral. Mr and Mrs Charles Fox and children.
Floyd Smith launches a campaign to teach farmers in the area to raise broom corn for personal use. With his seed and full guidance on planting and harvesting, families can cut costs by about half. He plans to plant and harvest on rented Brown Age lots with Myron Greek assisting.
Three Carey youths were brought before Mayor Tut tle after a Sunday evening speeding incident. The mayor ruled the driver could join the $8.60 club, citing the speed evidence as conclusive.
The county Republican Executive Committee endorsed John S. DeJean of Nevada to succeed Democrat Henry Kinzly as postmaster as Kinzly's term nears July 2. Other endorsements include Dr. S. Barrett of Nevada as county petition examiner, with tentative rival bids for Sycamore and Carey posts.
Chester Barr driving Silverstein's truck north on Vance street lost control while turning from Vance to Main. The truck struck a lamp post, toppled the globe, and damaged a hardware corner. it then hit a bench near Peoples Bank before stopping. A nearby porch swing was moved but not harmed.
Reported showers in Findlay claimed to rain fish worms, with skepticism that the worms emerged from ground rather than falling from clouds. Birds reportedly fed eagerly, enjoying the unusual spectacle while locals debated the event.
Miss Grace R. Singer of the Ohio Commission of the Blind visited town last Thursday to aid the blind and partially blind. The commission will supply sewing and broommaking teachers and assist in restoring sight where possible.

The Carey Handle and Lumber Co builds a 26 by 60 foot galvanized stone warehouse. They solve power problems by installing a second hand gas engine to handle high tension current arrival.

Seneca county will get federal funds to improve two four mile segments of the Columbus Sandusky highway north of Attica and from Crawford county to Caroline. The state highway commission confirms the aid covering 50 percent of costs, leaving about ten percent for the county, with landowners paying 15 percent and townships 25 percent.
Laura E Pontius died March 11 and the will filed today for probate leaves most of the estate to modest N Shireman a niece. Household goods an automobile and 500 are given to the niece with 500 a year from December 2 1919 as compensation for services. Clair B Shireman receives 500 and the residue goes to the niece who is executrix.
Easter brought large crowds to the Methodist church despite bad weather. The Sunday School goal of 350 was exceeded with 352 present. Five children were baptized and several new members joined, bringing total new members for two Sundays to 43.
At a meeting last Thursday evening the Carey Athletic Association elected President Jack Walters, Vice President Henry Pieraccini, Secretary Cyril Kramer, Treasurer R.7 New, and Base Bill Manager Clyde Campbell.
Robert Lawrence Updegraft infant son of Mrs and Mrs Walter Updegraft of three miles west of town died Monday after birth and burial was held in Mary's cemetery on Tuesday.

The list includes spiritual groups, families, and local and out of town donors such as Detroit residents, Toledo names, and Mansfield connections, with arrangements featuring carnations, hyacinths, roses, lilies, and daffodils.
Mrs. Maria Mitten died Sunday evening at 6 20 after two days of bronchial pneumonia. Funeral services were held Wednesday at Our Lady of Consolation church with Rev Fr Fish celebrating. Burial followed at St Mary's cemetery. Pallbearers included five nephews and one cousin. She was born in Seneca county and was the widow of Joseph Harrison Mitten. Survived by one sister Mrs Ben Kline of Belle Center.
Mrs. Maria Mittens's nieces and nephews thank neighbors friends and the Christian Mothers Sodality for acts of kindness during her illness and passing.
Among those who came to attend the funeral of Miss Helen Fox last Thursday were Mrs Peter Kramer and daughter Miss Clara and Mrs. Tom Mitten of Detroit, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Bacher and Mr. Frank McDonald of Toledo, Mrs. E Schmidt of Chicago, Mrs Elizabeth Zerby and daughter Esther of Mansfield and Mr. Wm. Gintert of Warren.
