Mrs Matilda Alice Wonder of West Main Street died Saturday night after weeks of illness from indigestion and heart trouble. Born December 10 1860 in Biglick township she was 60 years old. Survived by husband LeRoy Wonder two sons and two grand children and two sisters. Funeral Tuesday at ten o clock at home with Rev I H Amore preaching. Interment in St Johns cemetery. A bulletin on the 14th census records Carey population rising from 1,816 in 1900 to 2,488 in 1920 with Carey village and Crawford township growing but Ridge and Salem townships losing residents. The county total falls from 21,125 in 1900 to 19,481 in 1920, a loss of 1,644 people.

While remodeling his former residence on South Eighth Street Ray Culver found a calfskin slipper with a copper tac plate. The owner notes the slipper is at least fifty years old since the house was built around 1870 and the item is shown at the Peter Frank shop.
