Carey Red Cross Honor Roll Contributions Listed

Published at the Carey Committee request the American Red Cross War Fund Honor Roll lists numerous donors and amounts toward Carey’s quota of 4400. The roll shows totals of 3184.54 with many individuals and groups giving varied sums, including churches, lodges, schools, and families from Carey and surrounding areas.

Eagles Delegates to Meet for Patriotic Victory Rally

Delegates from seven Eagles aeries in Ohio district 14 will gather April 2 at Carey Aerie hall for a patriotic Victory Meeting led by Carey Aerie President William Windau. G A Sundberg will speak on aiding war effort. district director Don Reams will oversee the session. A banquet at Catholic hall follows, with floor show and dance. wives are invited.

Blood Donor Unit to Visit Upper Sandusky April

The American Red Cross mobile blood donor unit will be in Upper Sandusky on April 17 18 and 19. Wyandot county seeks 500 volunteers for the April dates. A letter from Lt Frank Frederick now in Italy urges Carey people to donate blood to a local bank. Eligible donors from Carey may register at local drugstores and with Mrs T E Drom gold or Mrs Ruby Criger.

Carey to Move Clocks to Eastern War Time

Village council of Carey passes a resolution on March 6 1944 to shift official time from Central War Time to Eastern War Time starting midnight Saturday April 1. Clocks and other timekeeping in Carey will be adjusted accordingly and the change will affect daily schedules.

Public School News Highlights Time Change and Chapels

The school adopts Eastern War Time starting Monday April 3, clocks move one hour ahead while start times stay the same. The Red Cross drive has raised over $90. A chapel program by the 7th grade features solos and a play with Hitler role. Visitors include returning veterans and staff changes noted. A circus titled Arnold's Barnyard Frolics is scheduled for Thursday at 3 PM.

There will be a dance every Saturday night at the Eagles hall featuring round and square dancing to music by the Victory Boostars. Door prizes of 3.00 in war stamps will be awarded.

Palm Sunday services at Christ Lutheran Church Pata

The group voted to revive a band uniform fund and aims to purchase new uniforms after the war. The next meeting is Monday April 3 at 8:90 p.m. at the high school.

Mrs Adah Mitchell Wilgus receives word from Washington that her husband Lieutenant Orien Wilgus a U S Army Air Corps pilot is missing in action since March 22 He flew a C 46 transport on missions between India and China and had been in the area for about three months He is the son of Mr and Mrs U S Wilgus of Columbus and the family formerly lived west of town.

Who Must File Personal Tax Returns in 1944

Land owners tenants with livestock grain or farm machinery must file. Anyone in business January 1 1944 must file inventory and furniture and fixtures. Those with tools or machinery used in business, and any who received interest or dividends from stocks bonds notes mortgages and charity policies must file. The deadline is March 31 1944.
