Last week totals show a long list of individual and organization gifts adding to a large sum. Notable contributors include The Peoples Bank Co, Lutheran Sunday School, Knights of Columbus, and numerous private donors.
The secretary of war reports James P. Vaughn missing over Germany since February 22. Sgt Vaughn, a B-24 top turret gunner and first engineer, enlisted November 3, 1942 and left for overseas November 26, 1942 via Natal and Brazil, serving in French West Africa, North Africa, and Italy. His parents note he completed 16 bombing missions February 11 and previously wrote February 21. He has two brothers in the air service.
Toledo woman Mrs. Hileen Fox seeks war service after learning her husband Pvt. William H. Fox is missing since January 30 in Italy. Fox served with the Third American Rangers after enlisting May of last year in North Africa. She aims to join the WAVE at Hunter College and keeps faith he may return.
The Carey Community club hosted its 20th anniversary with a gathering at the K of LoDize rooms honoring Carey Kiwanis and former members. J. D. Blackford spoke on World Peace. new members Avery Kuenzli W D Sherman and Lloyd Class joined. Delmar Lortz was reinstated. Dolly Pieracini and Rita Brown performed musically.
Two Carey boys Pfe Alton F. Kinsinger and Pfe Samuel Leslie Newcomer met on an Italian street. They shared meals attended a show and discussed their Old Home Town. Alton is son of Mrs Frank Kinsinger of S Pattergod street. Samuel is son of Mrs Alletha Newcomer of W Findlay street.
Mrs. Everett Rogers reports Seaman First Class Everett Rogers has graduated with about 500 men from a naval aviation technical training school in Memphis Tennessee. He completed an aviation radio man's course and is the son in law of Mr and Mrs W H Sleman of E South Street Carey.

The notice explains that late submissions will be used the following week and cannot be published immediately if received after Tuesday. It asks for full cooperation due to circumstances beyond control making the ruling necessary.

Red Cross fund drive launched through student body as a school gift. French club plans a formal banquet later. Girl Reserves schedule Easter Palm Sunday program. Public invited. Sympathy extended to Miss Helen Smith on her mother’s passing last Sunday.
With war fronts spreading and casualties rising, the Wyandot county blood donor center asks for 500 volunteers for the April donation drive. One day will serve Tiffin volunteers due to lack of a mobile center. replacements will be provided locally to cover cancellations. Donors from Carey are listed as contributing, with contact points at local drugstores and Mrs H. Dromgold.
Mrs Royal Greek and family in Bellefontaine mourn Sgt John Black killed in action July 26 in the South Pacific. Eye witness Sgt Paul Shipp of Kenton said John directed his men when a Jap sniper shot him through the head. Two bullet holes were found in his helmet as the engagement raged. Shipp, wounded in the shoulder, is hospitalized at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Black served in Co E, 148th Infantry, 37th Division.
Carey Temple No. 169 Lythian Sisters urge officers and staff to attend Thursday evening March 23 for final practice before the annual inspection on April 6 at the lodge.
Mr and Mrs Rex Dovelson thank Carey Fire Department and others who assisted at their home on E Findlay Street during a fire Saturday expressing appreciation for the timely aid and coverage of responders.

A note from Mildred Lonsway expresses gratitude to all who sent cards flowers or visited during her illness at St Vincent's hospital. She says their kindness will never be forgotten.
On Tuesday 27 men left Wyandot county for Columbus to be inducted into the Navy at the recruiting station there. The list includes John Robert Claréhee William Thornton Yack Leroy Prench Paul Francis Pakt Jack Junior Puchta Carey Harry Arthur Hudsor Howard Joseph Thiel and many others from Upper Sandusky Fostoria Mt. Blanchard Cleveland and related towns with transfers from Toledo to Upper Sandusky.
Fifteen members of the Christ Lutheran confirma tion class will join about 200 young people at the annual confirmands rally in Findlay next Sunday. Pastor Wade H. Koons of Carey will speak on The Foreword March at First Church Findlay under Lutheran Synod of Ohio auspices. Attendees from Carey include Gable Atkins Donald Callahan Clarence Coffman Arden Doppler Wilbur Dennison Russell Fagan Dean Fout Shirley Gatchell Mary Alice Heilman Ruth Wenner Donald Hill Charles Laney Horace Newhard Janet Putnam Howard Snowberger. The public is invited.
TisSet Atlan Smith Jr son of Mr and Mrs Allan Smith Sr Carey, was among the first Carey soldiers in a dayHeht raid on Berlin. A Flying Fortress mariner nicknamed Blues in the Reich he flew his 21st mission March 4 with Perrin as the objective. He has served overseas since October and earned the Air Medal and Oak Leaf Cluster.
Staniey Emsminger, formerly meat department manager at a Bellevue Kroger, is appointed manager of the Carey Kroger store and assumed duties Monday. He takes over from Jack French who joined the Navy Tuesday. Mrs Emsminger and their son Gary Lee will relocate to Carey soon.
Lt Robert W Kamerow of Cleveland is promoted to first lieutenant in the medical administrative corps of the US Army and has arrived safely in England. His wife Mrs Kamerow visits her mother Mrs Ruby Criger of E North Street Carey for a few weeks before departure.
Richard Wright thanks friends and neighbors for cards gifts and flowers during his stay at Findlay hospital and after returning home He also thanks Mr Goff for ambulance service.
A weekly dance is held every Saturday at the Eagles hall featuring round and square dancing to music by the Victory Boosters. Door prizes total 300 in war stamps to attendees.
