Education conference ends in Columbus on school improvement plan

Miss Helen Smith of the local high school attended a three day conference in Columbus titled Working Together for the Improvement of Education in Ohio. The event, held at the Ohio State University Student Union, featured 20 working groups with leaders and consultants and speakers from national and state education circles.

Senior Girls Win Class Tournament In Basketball

Three cheers for the Senior girls as they win the class tournament in basketball. Last Tuesday featured many yells and cheers during the final Junior vs Senior game with a 19 to 14 score. Fire damages Grove Street residence. family unharmed

A Grove Street house suffered fire damage at about 4 30 a m estimated loss 1500 to Lester Keckler residence. Firemen Nye and Updegraff responded to the alarm. Upstairs walls and bed area burned with extensive smoke and water damage on the first floor. The Kecklers and five children were asleep downstairs, and Mr Barnett spent the night with friends.

Goodwill Industries Truck Sets April 1 Pickup for Carey

A Toledo Goodwill Industries truck will visit Carey on Tuesday April 1 to collect contributions for the elderly and handicapped. The program trains and employs handicapped workers who repair discarded clothing shoes furniture and other items sold in Goodwill Stores. An overflow crowd at Harris theatre watched Ray's Follies of 1952 staged by Ray's Dance studio students. Connie Downing joined the Four Dancing Dolls for a French Cancan and Eccentric novelty act. Car Truck Collision East of Carey

Last Saturday evening a crash occurred when a car driven by Van Baker hit the rear of a parked pickup owned by CC. E. Smalley on W Findlay Street near the Goff funeral home during heavy rain. The impact pushed the car over the curb and caused slight property damage.

Navy Man Undergoes Eye Surgery in Philadelphia

Robert G. C. Donelson, stationed at the U S Naval Training Center Lima, entered Philadelphia Naval Hospital Saturday for eye surgery. He was to have a pterygium removed from each eye and undergo minor procedures. His mother Maude Donelson and relatives from Carey and Upper Sandusky visited the Lima center to retrieve his car.
