Carey H S students shine at district solo and ensemble auditions

Carey High School students earned superior and excellent ratings at the district Solo and Ensemble Auditions held in Tiffin. Eleven entries advanced to the state finals at Otterbein College on April 19, with ratings across solo and ensemble categories.

Colorful High School Style Revue Show Lights Up Lawn

The Style Revue at the high school featured 144 garments modeled by home economics students. A colored movie segment captured portions of the program as four readers presented while models posed on a crepe paper set with flowering quince and trees.

Ohio Industrial Arts Convention Highlights Shop Safety

The Ohio Industrial Arts Association Convention focused on shop safety with progress reported on Ohio School Shop Safety and plans for further improvements. Driver Education was discussed as underrepresented in high schools and a panel of five industry leaders explored Looking Ahead in Industrial Arts with future promises for students and instructors. Exhibits showcased student projects including plastics, which received broader coverage. Mrs. D. E. Wilson and family mentioned.

Carey Good Friday Service at First Methodist Church

The Community Good Friday service in Carey will be held at First Methodist Church from noon to 3 PM. Rev. D V Whitenack leads, with six ministers presenting meditations on the Seven Last Words. Musicians include Mrs C G Laird, Mrs Wesley Wonder, and Mrs Evert Lee. several vocal solos and a quartet are planned. Local businesses will close to allow public attendance.

Alumni Favor Banquet Question For Carey High School

Families Relocate Homes On North and Lake Streets

Mr and Mrs Clayton Twining move from E North street owned by Arthur Stevens to a new E Lake street home built by George Dunn and Edward Downing with family. Edward Downing and family move from North and Patterson corner to Twining’s vacated house. Mr and Mrs John DeAmicis who had lived with Mr De Amicis' parents on N Patterson rent the Downing house.

Clothing Drive For War Sufferers At Consolation Parish

The National Council of Catholic Women at Our Lady of Consolation parish conducts a week long clothing drive for war sufferers. Donated items for men women and children can be dropped at the pavilion any time this week.

Wyandot County Members Attend State Patrol Auxiliary Convention

William F. Simonis of Sycamore L L Bland William Keller William Humbert and Grover Snyder were among Wyandot county attendees at the 8th annual State Patrol Auxiliary convention in Columbus. A German band played during dinner in the Deshler-Wallick ballroom before a floor show. Gov. Frank Lausche addressed the Saturday forenoon session at East Central high school auditorium.

Mrs Greeley Marshall Improves After Illness

Mrs Greeley Marshall who six weeks ago suffered a heart attack and was taken to Blanchard Valley hospital has been returned to her home northwest of Carey where she is improving. Her daughter Mrs Joseph Young of Amanda helps care for her. Mrs Marshall is allowed a few visitors for short periods. She and her husband had just returned from a trip to Florida when she became ill.

Proposed park improvements discussed by Carey groups

Twenty representatives from Carey organizations met Memorial Park board to study plans for future improvements. Proposed items include another shelter house rest rooms at the ball field a four way fireplace and shuffleboard courts. The shuffleboard club will finance extra courts this summer. Other funds must come from civic groups. The board will provide cost estimates.

Paul D Enders of Upper Sandusky Wyandot County clerk of courts was named chair man of the 1952 cancer fund drive for Wyandot County He said he would announce his committee later and that the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary will distribute coin boxes countywide except Carey where the Carey Eagles handle it The county quota is 3000 dollars.

Hudson Injured in Train Mishap Near Carey

W R Pete Hudson 64 of 159 W Brown avenue suffered the loss of his left leg and four toes of the right foot in a 1030 am accident at the New York Central coal dock south of Carey. He was struck by two loose coal cars as he tried to step back across the track. bystanders applied tourniquets and he was taken to Blanchard Valley hospital where amputation above the knee was needed. Hudson, a railroad employee since 1905, was conscious and recovering with his wife and two daughters at his side.

Carey Man to Sing With Parade of Quartets

Surprise Alert Saturday Observers Needed At Carey Post

William Keller supervisor of the Carey post of the Ground Observer Corps was notified that exercises would start at 9 am. Observers appeared within 15 minutes but shifts could not be changed every two hours due to lack of volunteers. Eight planes were spotted including four fighters. Mr. Keller and Harold Shue appeal to women to help. a club expressed interest and a meeting is set.
