District Two solo and ensemble auditions in Tiffin Ohio

The Ohio Music Education Association sponsors solo and ensemble auditions in Tiffin at the Junior High and Columbian High School on March 29. Carey enters 31 students across 24 events. Superior ratings advance to the State Finals at Otterbein College Westerville Ohio.

Carey High School student wins county essay contest

John Romig a Wyandot county sophomore tied for a place among eight top essays in the county wide American Legion contest. Eight county essays were chosen on the theme What Old Glory Means to Me and will advance to the state contest with a Washington D C trip offered to the state winner.

Junior Classical League Holds Monthly Meeting

The Junior Classical League met Monday afternoon during the regular close period. President John Romig called the meeting to order and secretary Nancy Bauer read and approved the minutes. The group discussed the language club trip with several suggested destinations. Jack Twining spoke on women schools and writings. Next meeting is set for April 14.

Movie screenings guide high school pupils toward vocation

Friday afternoon March 14 a program featured Job for Bob to help students choose a vocation. It urged selecting work that aids others and suits personal ability, framed as a Christian calling. Another PE screening titled A Fight for Freedom followed for the boys.

Red Cross Drive Under Way in Carey City

The 1952 Carey Red Cross drive begins Monday to raise funds for disaster relief and other beneficiaries. District captains listed include Mrs. L H Offenbacher and Mrs. Donald Fetters, with home and business district soliciting to follow. Village Council Grants Building Permits and Studies Sewer Plan

The village council approved Leo Vaughn for a 1 1/2 story six room house on Cleveland Avenue and J E Dible Co for a 30 by 34 foot rear addition on S Vance Street. First reading on vacating the alley north of the Harry Schubert property. Consulting engineers to study storm and sanitary sewers with in town visits. Sewers cleared on North and Muncie streets and Findlay Street catch basins cleaned. Cooperation urged to avoid roof drainage in sewers. The Carey Farmers Cooperative to report in 60 to 90 days on a filtering process to reduce chaff in the air.

Masonic Inspection Set for Carey Lodge March 20

Child Breaks Arm In Fall Near Carey

Ronald Tiell two year old son of Mr and Mrs S A Tiell Jr east of Carey fell from a chair Friday afternoon breaking his right arm just above the elbow. A local physician set the bone and placed a cast for two weeks.

Local People Present at Crawford Program on WROD

A Crawford group hosted a broadcast last Thursday at 1 30 p m on WROD Worthington. Mary Logal directed the rural Ohio station activities and featured violin trombone pieces and a Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbeam solo by Sharon Karr. A historical sketch on Col William Crawford was delivered by Mark Karr, and Mrs S W McChesney played piano accompaniment. The program closed with a history of the Crawford M E Church over 100 years old by Mrs Herbert Lortz. Polio Victim Richard Dible Sees Slow Improvement

Richard Dible 15 son of Mr and Mrs Fred Dible of five miles south of Carey shows slow improvement at Children's Hospital Columbus after a December polio attack. Illness began Christmas Day with back and leg muscle involvement. he can now stand briefly and is a Salem Township High School sophomore.

Home From Korea Baldridge Returns To Ohio Family

Ste Lloyd A Baldridge arrived Sunday March 10 at the home of his sister Mrs Mary Caudill 150 Newhard Street after twelve months on the Korean front He was wounded in September 1951 near Heartbreak Ridge in the right leg and spent 21 days in a Tokyo hospital He served with the 32nd Infantry Regiment 7th Division and returned to the United States aboard the General Power in San Francisco He has six months of service remaining and will report to Fort Custer Michigan for reassignment.

Incubator Baby Judy Darlene Now Doing Fine

Mr and Mrs Billy Conley and daughter Judy Darlene of N Vance street spent days last week with Mr and Mrs Sherman Conley northwest of Carey. Judy Darlene now ten months old weighs 13.4 pounds after weeks in an incubator following birth.

Pre induction exams for Wyandot county registrants

Sixteen young men registered with the Wyandot county selective service board received pre induction physical examinations in Toledo on Monday. The list includes Wilbur Lowell Wise Jr and others from Harpster Morral Sycamore Upper Sandusky Carey Findlay Mt. Blanchard and more. Harold Bakies Home From Far East Arrives In San Francisco

Sgt Harold Bakies returned from Japan after a long overseas assignment and arrived in San Francisco within 36 hours by plane. He is son of Mr and Mrs Edward Bakies and will report to Fort Custer after a 20 day furlough before reassignment. He married Hisae Ikeda on Valentine Day in Japan and plans to reunite with her in May when another furlough allows her to travel to the West Coast.
