Dad Daughter Date Brings Y Teens and Dads Together

On March 16 the Y-Teens gathered with their fathers for annual Dad-Daughter Date. Per sis Newhard welcomed attendees, Mr Newhard gave the response, and fathers offered impromptu speeches. A musical program featured Jindy’s monologue Getting Hubby Ready for the Party Sally Jaster’s flute Solo Souvenir a trio with Barbara Dible Noma Jean Strahm Judy Hill and Edith Dye’s Florida Yellowstone films. Food committee refreshments followed the St Patrick theme and attendees hoped for more events.

Carey Teachers Attend Heidelberg Art Conference

Carey teachers attended Heidelberg's 14th annual conference on Art and the Classroom Teacher held Saturday March 11 in Tiffin. The program featured addresses by Blake Godwin and Lester Longman on art value in schools, plus Dr Leon Winston on integrating art with other subjects. A film show Creative Hands showcased teaching art, overseen by Dudley Gaitskill.

Carey Lions Club to Sponsor Baseball Caravan

The Carey Lions Club plans two baseball caravans to Cleveland this summer for local boys. A definite date isn’t set but June 21 between the Indians and Yankees is being considered. Interested boys should see Cloyce D Wentling, high school principal. Lions cover transport, game admission, and expenses with club members accompanying.

Girl Scout Leaders Training Class Held in Upper Sandusky

Miss Lucille DeVene and Mrs. Elbert Tewell attended a Girl Scout leadership training class in Upper Sandusky Monday evening. A instructional film was shown and leaders studied the dying. Ten leaders attended from Wyandot County.

Wallace Ruehle Undergoes Hip Surgery in Cleveland Clinic

Wallace Ruehle of northeast of Carey had hip surgery Tuesday morning at Cleveland Clinic Hospital after an admission March 11. He was cast from chest to knees for six weeks. The Carey i Memorial park board hires Don Wedge a junior at Ohio Wesleyan University Delaware as playground and swimming pool instructor for the summer season beginning Memorial Day.
