Jaycees Plan County Wide Oral Polio Vaccination Drive

Carey Jaycees led by David Myers announce mass oral polio vaccination for Wyandot County at a nominal 25 cent charge. Upper Sandusky Jaycees join the effort with Sabin Type I vaccine to all residents 6 weeks to 98 years, requiring pre registration and coupons due by April 2. Vaccination days are April 9 at Carey and Upper schools, and May 7 at the same locations.

Buckeye Girls State Delegates Named From Carey Area

Carey juniors Carol Putnam and Paula Powell were chosen as delegates to the 16th Buckeye Girls State to be held at Capital University Columbus June 16 to 24. Alternates are Karen Myers and Janice Logsdon. Delegates were selected by top test grades in Ohio government.

Loy Accepts Advertising Director Post in Columbus

David J. Loy, longtime Porcelain Products Co. sales promotion manager, will become director of advertising and sales promotion for Midland Mutual Life Insurance in Columbus. He plans to move his family from Findlay to Columbus shortly after April 1. Loy has worked at Porcelain since 1950, aside from two years of Army service. His mother and late father, John G. Loy, lived in Carey from 1919 to 1927 and are remembered by many Carey residents.

Airman Paul Young Enlists in Basic Training

Airman Paul Young son of Mrs. Carl Dible 335 Frederick Street is in basic training at Lackland AFB San Antonio Texas. He left February 16 to begin a four year enlistment. Carey Community Votes on U.S. 23 Route Bypass

Carey residents are urged to cast ballots on highway routing for the new four lane bypass. The council weighs routes via South Patterson Street, South Vance and West Streets, or continuing on U.S. 23. Ballots may be dropped at the Carey Times office or mailed to Village Manager George Dunn.

Kiwanis Meeting Hosts Stock Investment Talk

Kiwanis and Junior Kiwanian Danny Holden attended the Homestead Restaurant meeting as Earl LeMott led a discussion on stock investment. He warned against loving a stock, urged dealing with reputable brokers, and cited the 1929 crash to show market volatility.
