Carey High School to Stage Land of Dreams and Awards

Carey High School plans a Friday program presenting Land of Dreams Come True by Carey grade pupils. Betty Hamiter is valedictorian and Geralda Mae Moser salutatorian as the senior class works toward a April comedy mystery play. A school attendance drive and a second semester chapel program titled The Joy Bell Ringer are announced with low admission fees.

Carey Junior Band Earns Excellent at District Fest

Thirty two Carey Junior band members traveled to Shelby for the North Central District Junior High Band competition joining Lorain Bellevue Galion and Shelby bands. Carey, the sole class C entrant, performed an Overture by Beaumater to win an Excellent rating with praise for the young players. Dallas Bland, a 6th grader, earned a Superior rating for Country Gardens in the trumpet solo contest.

Organize County Pork Improvement Association Formed

Over 100 men attended the hog school meeting on March 14 and voted to form a county pork improvement association to advance education and promote pork products. Bond Issue Election Is Non-Partisan Opinion

Attorney General Thomas J Herbert ruled that a bond issue ballot can be issued without stating party politics since the bond issue is a separate election from the primary. Spring Retreat in Fostoria for two church groups

Findlay Man Undergoes Sinus Operations in Toledo

Willard Kimmel of Findlay and formerly of Carey underwent a sinus operation at a Toledo hospital on Wednesday morning and received several blood transfusions. He had a prior sinus operation at Findlay hospital three weeks ago and has remained in a critical condition since.

Ohio school costs rise across cities and villages

A survey by Dr. T. C. Holy of Ohio State University's bureau of educational research shows public school costs per pupil increasing from 1934-35 to 1938-39. Cities averaged 101.17 dollars per pupil vs 79.28 earlier. exempted villages rose to 79.60 from 63.83. Large cities spend more per pupil with varied figures by population.
