Floyd Smith, long ill at Pilgrim House, is improving after a fall on Saturday. Doctors say he has turned the corner and may return to his broom shop next week.
Members of the American Legion Auxiliary and Lars Green Post No. 344 with their husbands and wives will gather for a pot luck supper in the Legion Rooms on Monday evening March 24 at 7 00 oclock.
Next Sunday night the pastor will discuss the Divinity of Christ with the question Was Jesus God or Man. In the morning the sermon will be on Atonement. Sunday school attendance rose. The Four Square Campaign drives class participation. Brotherhood at George Newhard’s home discussed Evangelism. Rev. Lewis P. Speaker will preach Monday and Tuesday nights at Upper Sandusky English Lutheran church. A week of special services follows at Christ Church starting March 31 with visiting pastors including Rev. B W Ziegler of Findlay. The public is invited.
The Hart Green Post American Legion held a regular meeting with poor attendance and decided to conduct a membership drive through March. About 125 eligible ex service men in the area are hoped to sign up, creating a solid front for future objectives.
On June 19 Corpus Christi the St Joseph’s parish in Salem township will observe its 75th anniversary founded by Bishop Rapp of Cleveland in spring 1849 A diamond jubilee and home coming are planned The church interior will be cleaned and decorated and an endowment fund is being raised for perpetual care of Salem cemetery graves.
R D Perkins furnishes material for a 40 by 80 foot barn on the old Phil Kinney farm a mile east of Adrian and holds the contract for a new barn on Mr Pressler's farm near Adrian to replace a burned structure. Mrs Rachel Clouse adds an eight room house on her farm half a mile west of Adrian.
Russell S Lee son of Addison Lee and Cora Marie Walter daughter of William Walter were married Tuesday afternoon at 2 00 o clock at the Evangelical parsonage with Rev F A Firestone officiating. The couple left unassisted for the bride’s parents’ home.
Mr and Mrs Ambrose Bland thank neighbors who husked and cribbed a crib full of corn on Tuesday afternoon and all who have assisted since Mr Bland’s accident.
Wm Dupont proprietor of the Wyandot Overland Co of Upper Sandusky opens an Overland sales room in the Nachbar building on S. Vance street. Donald Myers of west of town is named local representative.
L. B. Snyder purchased the Roy Walter property on North street formerly occupied by Joe Silverstein through the Newhard Real Estate Agency.
About eighty farmers and Kiwanis members gathered at the Catholic hall for a St Patrick themed banquet. Irish songs, an orchestra, and speeches by Dr Zeis and Mr Schoenberger highlighted the evening. Prizes were awarded, including a bushel of apples to Father Ignatius, with tickets for a high school auditorium film showing to follow.
The building committee chose a Tellers Kent pipe organ from Erie Pennsylvania for the new Methodist church. It is a two manual electric action instrument with detached console, 823 speaking pipes, nine couplers, and nine nine. The cost is $4500 and identical models are planned for Tilfin Methodist Protestant church and the Masonic Temple.
Monday morning David Ogg became proprietor joining Zeis to form Zeis & Ogg hardware firm. Ogg was a longtime store clerk and knows the business. Mitchell has no definite plans. Jack Updegraff has closed his bowling alley and stored equipment. The space is rented to S K Dickerson who will move his restaurant from the New Galt Hotel block.
There will be a regular meeting of Crawford Chapter, O I oS Friday night. Initiation and social are planned. All members urged to attend. meeting begins promptly at 7 00 o clock.
On Saturday evening March 24 the ladies of the Ivangee toad phare will serve a chicken supper at the Moose hall. The public is invited.
A visiting ad solicitor claiming Kiwanis Club endorsement forged checks payable to the Carey Times. The Times notes high overcharges, no contract, and urges prepayment guarantees by a local sponsor. The editor recalls the swindle and warns residents to trade locally and be wary of strangers.
The Hocking Valley and the Big Four railroads will switch to Eastern time through Carey starting March 3, affecting the post office and likely local factories. Cards are being given to schoolchildren for parent opinions, but the final decision and town consensus remain unsettled.
Next Sunday night at the Vetho dist chureh the entire services will be in charge of the young people. An interesting program includes special music by the youth choir solo duet and two part chorus and instrumental music. Addresses by Ralph Huston on Life as a Game Voyle Brashares on Our Trainer Miss Thelma Wonder on Choosing One's Friends. Ushers will be chosen from the young men.
De PoP Gillie, a rare field veterinarian, was in town Friday testing cattle for tuberculosis. Dr Harry Hosafros says Gillie will return Thursday to pass judgment on them and that several more applications are expected. Catide testing blanks available from Dr Hosafros.
IN HOSPITAL Juin Epdegratf has received word that his son Truman is seriously ill in the JLittleton Hospital Littleton Colorado.
