On Saturday March 21 1925 at 1 00 p m at the residence 119 W Findlay J MRS J J ZINT offers all her household goods and a great many valuable books at public auction due to breaking up housekeeping.
Corey F Barnthouse proprietor of the South Sandusky avenue garage in Upper Sandusky died suddenly Wednesday forenoon from heart trouble. He had been in his usual good health until an hour before his death. He was 55 years old.
Last Monday’s Kiwanis session featured Brooks Fletcher as speaker. A Mansfield delegation invited members to the Inter-City meeting Thursday night. Guests included Joseph Sheehy and J. Griffith Toledo E C Wrede Findlay and several Mansfield and Carey representatives. The day’s prize was donated by Ralph Kurtz and drawn by J P Newhard.
Work will start soon on double tracking the Hocking Valley from Columbus to Fostoria with construction at Carey and other points. The Carey station platform will be rebuilt between the new tracks and the local station moved west. The project aims to make the line a major feeder boosting regional prosperity.
Last Saturday drillers on the Melville Saltzman farm five miles northwest of town struck gas and oil began to flow on Sunday. Optimists say the well may yield 300 to 400 barrels. Floyd Allen, formerly of the Carey garment factory, has an interest in the well and, with associates, holds leases on Clint Chambers and Nelson Carothers farms. Nearby farms have been leased by others for some time.
Diller transported Mrs Grant Karr to Greenfield Tuesday and Emery Diller drove the hearse. They then returned Wednesday with the late Grant Karr laid to rest at Spring Grove cemetery. Pallbearers were Edward Riester, E S Burson, Ross Patterson, W S LeMott, Richard Smith and H B Keller.
Mr and Mrs Dale Motter and Lawrence Motter of Wharton joined Mrs Tda Motter Mrs Frank Daymon and Mr and Mrs Lawrence Bland at the funeral of Mrs Henry Motter held last Thursday at Trinity Reformed Church in Upper Sandusky. Burial followed in Oak Hill cemetery. Mrs Motter was a sister in law of Mrs Ida Motter of Carey.
A 7 pound son was born Monday March 9 to Mr and Mrs H B Turnbell. A 6½ pound son named Hamilton Shuey Ryder arrived Saturday evening March 14 at Peoples Hospital Akron to Mr and Mrs Gail H Ryder. Mother and baby boin fine. Mr Ryder is son of Mr and Mrs A B Ryder of this city.
Findlay hosts a pleasant evening with Pythian Sisters led by Mrs Roy Kirkwood Mrs Verne Chesebrough Mrs Nelson Turnbell Mrs Charles Kear Mrs George Perkins Mrs Roland McDowell Mrs Russell Fagan and Mrs Peter Long as they were guests of Juno Temple No 45 Tuesday evening.
Friday evening March 20 IO OF ARali Lodge hosts All Subordinate and Rebekah members and families in a community gathering with invited attendees.
The Rebekahs plan a pot luck supper next Tuesday evening featuring a community gathering with members sharing dishes and friendly fellowship.
Congressman Brooks Fletcher of Marion spoke four times in Carey over Sunday and Monday. He addressed banquets at the Methodist church and spoke to students at the high school, Kiwanis, and a large banquet audience, then closed with a main talk on Understanding Modern Youth in the New Psychology.
Mrs Otto Krupp of Toledo died after paralysis at Mercy Hospital at about age 38. Survived by husband and four children, with funeral plans set for Friday from her residence and St. Ann's Church, Calvary Cemetery interment.
Next Sunday morning the pastor will preach on Nominal Christianity based on the message to the Church in Sardis. The fourth in the series A Message to the Church is followed by continued Story of My Life in the evening. The black-board talk is The Hunger of My Life. The Lord's Prayer will be explained. Luther League asks What Can We Do to Win Others to Christ with Kirtland Straw and Donald Kurtz leading. The pastor attended a Springfield district chairmen meeting on Tuesday about the Wittenberg Clean-up Campaign. Vanlue congregation has raised its entire quota.
A large group including Mr. and Mrs Clyde Wentling and son Wendell and many neighbors aided Mr and Mrs Fred Dible of east of Carey in relocating to a farm they recently bought west of town. The volunteers included the Smith Laws Dible Rheta Williams Wagner Wright Proctor Pipes Davis Beaschler Fox Weaver Ranger and Lombard among others.
Howard Diller of Carey won the loving cup at a Bible study contest held Sunday at the YMCA building in Upper Sandusky. Attending were contestants from Carey Marseilles and Upper Sandusky including Melford Heck Charlies Fox Roy Green Myron Veith and Robert Caldwell. Judges were Rev J W Holland Rev BEO Lienkaemper and LM New comer. Howard told the story of Joseph.
C A Carpenter plans a 50 room cottage on the lot west of his recently sold West Findlay residence to Dr W N Johnson. W S Chesebrough began clearing a Lake street lot behind Mrs Emeretta Brown to construct a modern home this summer.

The Seventeen play staged at the high school auditorium Tuesday evening by the senior class drew a crowded house and favorable reviews for strong acting and overall success.
A force of men has been in town this week installing the coal plant recently purchased by the Carey Mill and Elevator Company.
The regular Eastern Star meeting will be held Friday evening. Members are reminded to attend and follow the schedule of events for the session.
The Hon. Brooks Fletcher spoke to high school and East End grade school pupils on Monday morning about making the best of what you have. A trial debate followed on Wednesday afternoon in the high school auditorium with two local teams debating each other.
Friday evening at 7 30 the local debating team meets Sycamore in the school auditorium to argue the motion Resolved That the Federal child labor amendment should be adopted. Roger Lindsay Margaret Ann Pepple Kirtland Straw defend the affirmative with Helen Kessler alternate. Harold Graves Louise Romig Ruth Diller Ira Wickiser alternate for the negative will travel to Nevada. Come and support the team.
Sheriff Scheidegger and Deputy Jonas secured a Ford with a box top linked to Curtis Ellis. Ellis, last seen in a Tiffin restaurant, had rented a Marion car. the seized Ford contained nearly empty jugs and whiskey. The coroner refused to repossess without bonding, leaving the car with the sheriff.
The American Legion Auxiliary Board party at Mrs Almon Blue's home from two to four Wednesday afternoon drew 45 guests. Bridge 500 and rock games entertained guests, followed by light refreshments. Social committees included Mrs Almon Blue and others as organizers.
Transfer of the Brokensword Stone Co to manager R G Spencer of the National Lime and Stone Co of Carey Ohio was completed yesterday afternoon at a final meeting of local stockholders. The sale actually completed several weeks ago, as previously announced.
There will be a dance at the K of P hall every Friday night under K of P management. Good music provided. Verne England will be the caller. Public invited.
