World Scout Week observance in Carey featured the Juliette Low Friendship party at the high school gym. Rev. J. Frank Ferguson led the invocation and flag ceremony while Judy Turner received a 10 year pin from her mother. Troops presented demonstrations in Arts and Crafts Literature and Dramatics Music and Dancing Community Life International Friendship Nature Out-of-Doors Sports and Games Apiculture Health and Safety and Homemaking. A Court of Awards recognized sixteen girls with 5-year pins as leaders Mrs. Nye and Mrs. Creeger oversaw troop activities with refreshments served.

Superintendent Douglas W. Myers Principal Cloyce Wentling and Miss Thelma Clagett attended the 24th Annual Heidelberg Educational Conference in Tiffin on Saturday. The theme focused on Northwestern Ohio Schools in 1970 with Dr. Ernest Melby of Michigan State University delivering a talk on national international and interplanetary forces in our schools. Discussion groups covered ten educational areas including Educational Television in Every Classroom and Curricular Alternatives to the Conant Plan. Several hundred teachers and administrators were present.

Farmer Is Injured by Cow Kick Near Smithville Farm
Daniel DeBolt, son in law of Mr and Mrs Foster Savidge, suffered fractures of both bones in his left leg when kicked by a cow in the DeBolt farm barn near Smithville on Wednesday. He was treated at Wyandot Memorial Hospital and may be out of farm work for about six months.

Skiing Vacation To Aspen Ends For Newhard Huston Shane
Mr and Mrs Joseph Newhard and family plus Rex Huston and Clair Shane returned from a Aspen Colo vacation. Mrs Shane was away two weeks while others were gone three weeks. The group includes Ann Candace and a 64 year old daughter. They enjoyed a dog sled day trip from Toklat lodge in Ashcroft with lunch in a cabin. Movie crews filmed Sgt Preston scenes in the area.

After renting a car they drove 800 miles along the coast to San Francisco before returning by train. This long break came after years without a vacation. Jesse Owens, famed Olympic star, will be guest speaker at the Christian Athlete's Night banquet at First Methodist Church on Wednesday March 23.
