Wyandot county faces a 232 pint deficit after 578 pints used in 1959 with only 346 donated locally. The Red Cross bloodmobile will be at First Methodist Church today from 1 to 7 p.m. to help keep the county blood bank stocked.
About 100 pupils from Colonel Crawford build perform Rumpelstiltskin Friday March 41 8 PM in the high school auditorium. Don Wilson composer from Jack Benny show wrote the tunes for this Hans Christian Andersen tale. Cast includes Mary Jane Hendricks as Gretchen Keith Phillips as the miller and John Sparks as the king.
A weekend spiritual retreat for men sponsored by the Carey Council Knights of Columbus is set for March 11 to March 13 at the Carey Shrine. Activities occur in the Retreat Chapel with speakers Rev. Father Killian Speckner and Rev. Fr. Nicholas Roling guiding sessions and Mass. Attendance is open to men 18 and older with no registration required.
Remlinger and Zierolf bowling team swept all three matches against Simpson Insurance of Forest Sunday at Hillcrest Lanes Kenton. The squad previously beat the Forest bowlers in an earlier matchup at Bowl-Era Lanes. Members included Exline Zierolf Messmer Puchta and substitute Craft with Mrs Craft rolling a 212 in a wives match alongside Mrs Zierolf Mrs Puchta and Mrs Messmer.
Mr. and Mrs. Truman Romig toured Columbus State Hospital Nurse's Home and the hospital during an open house hosted by their daughters Sara Romig and Diana Dunn, both student nurses. Guests included John Hunter and the Hunter family, Howard Hunter and his children Connie and Jimmy, Darlene McCumber, Gary Hablitzel, and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Vaughn of Columbus, who joined as supper guests.
A public meeting is scheduled for 8 p.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church on Route 53 in Upper Sandusky. All residents are welcome to attend.

Mrs. F. D. Hurd hosts a tea for Wyandot County Republican Women Thursday March 17 from 2 to 4 PM at 442 West Findlay Street. Attendees include state committee member Mrs. Martha Wheatcraft and candidates for the May 3 primary, with emphasis on local election board members.
The Carey Sportsman Recreation Park will host a ham shoot at 1 p.m. on Sunday March 13 with monthly shoots weather permitting. Public participation is invited and a general meeting will soon organize maintenance committees and a schedule. Dues for 1960 remain due at Moore's Store with late-pay reminders.
Mr and Mrs Frank Kitchel from northwest of town attended a two day Midwest Concrete Drain Tile Manufacturing Association convention at Kellogg Center Michigan State University East Lansing Their son John joined them Saturday they planned a luncheon in Lima Ohio for the association meeting Mr Kitchel serves as secretary treasurer and owns Vanlue Tile Co and Seneca Concrete Products Co in Seneca County
Attention is called to Ohio's White Cane law which requires drivers to yield the right of way to blind pedestrians led by a guide dog or carrying a white cane in a raised or extended position. The law also specifies that no non blind person shall carry a white cane in a raised or extended position on any public thoroughfare.

Carey village council approved engineering plans for sewage collection and treatment upgrades at an estimated 346650 dollars. The project includes a new cast iron line on Spring Run near S Vance Street and seeks federal aid while considering higher sewer rates to fund financing.

Wyandot County Judge Russell H. Kear of Upper Sandusky will speak at the Rosary Altar Society meeting Tuesday at 8 p.m. in Our Lady of Consolation School auditorium. He will discuss juvenile delinquency with Father Justin Phelps moderating. A brief business session will follow led by Mrs. Carl Kessler.

The Carey Band Mothers met at the high school band room. Director Walter Bixler introduced Karen Myers who played a flute solo Mignonette accompanied by Nancy Phillips. Plans were laid for the spring dance on April 23 and for an alumni banquet, plus the annual band banquet. Refreshments followed in the cafeteria. The St Patrick theme guided the March committee including Car son Canade Turner Knowlton Williams Black Heck Dunn Meyers Rader Schade and Welsh.
Mr and Mrs George Renslinger returned home from a four week southern vacation touring New Orleans Florida St Augustine and Miami Springs They were hosted by Mrs Minnie Ruffing and the Grohs of Miami Springs For their wedding anniversary and Mr Remlinger's birthday the Grohs entertained on Feb 22 The trip included a snow and ice storm in northern Florida and northern Georgia that damaged trees.
Medard Ruehle scored 117 and Don Gottfried 101 for Mohawk High School as 1,132 Ohio seniors took the agricultural competition. Top score was 136. State chairman Chester S. Hutchinson sent congratulations to those above 100. First five in each district earn four year scholarships. other upper third students may apply for additional scholarship tests.
Roberta Michaels, an 8 year old Brownie, was celebrated for selling 98 boxes of Girl Scout cookies the most by any Brownie in Kenton. Her photo appeared in the Kenton Times. She is the daughter of Jack Michaels of Carey and Wilma Michaels of Kenton.

Vernon LeRoy Risner 22 of Route 23 was fatally injured in a one car crash on icy Route 23 two miles north of Carey just after 1 30 a m Sunday March 6 1960. The 1959 Thunderbird skid 285 feet and struck a tree near the Fredritz farm. He died en route to Blanchard Valley Hospital from a skull fracture. Survived by parents Caloway and Eva and two sisters Marlene and Karen and grandmothers Mrs Risner and Mrs Phillips. Funeral Tuesday at Bristoll Funeral Home with burial in Spring Grove Cemetery.
T Norman Mansell a distinguished church architect visited Carey to review Christ Lutheran Church’s new building project. Discussions covered interior furnishings color lighting chancel altar and suspended cross with completion projected by mid July and possible dedication in September. Attendees included Miles Miller Grover C Snyder Robert Mott and Dr T Benton Peery.
Mrs. George Carron of West Street attended a capping exercise Friday at John Simpson Jr High School in Mansfield for a class of 64 from Mansfield General Hospital. Her granddaughter Susan Warfel of Galion was in the class, and Mrs Carron was an overnight guest of the Warfel family and their daughters Carol Barbara and Beth.
At a regular meeting on Tuesday a committee was appointed to study the legal steps to incorporate the local lodge. The panel will report at the March 15 meeting. All members are urged to attend and assist.
Ronald Wisner of Upper Sandusky High School led Wyandot county with 233 points out of 300 in the General Scholarship Test. William Kinley was second with 226, among 25 high ranking boys whose scores ranged 269 to 249, while top girls scored 261 to 234. Wyandot honorees beyond Wisner and Kinley included Honsberger Mohawk 219 Getz Upper Sandusky 214 Drew Upper Sandusky 204 Baker Nevada 200 Niebel Mohawk 200, with the state honor minimum 199.
Cub Scouts Freddy Lasley Eric Hussey Roger Hall Tommy Myers and David Burson of Den 2 Pack 13 with their assistant den mother Mrs. Paul Burson were shown through the Carey Times plant by publisher Herbert H. Miller last Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Dale Myers is their den mother.
The U S Department of Commerce awarded Seiberling Rubber Co a citation for outstanding service to the U S government. The company helped organize official overseas exhibits in Poland and Greece, aiding international understanding of peace and prosperity under free enterprise.
Bob Kitchel a Bowling Green freshman has been pledged to Sigma Chi. His brother Frank a sophomore at the university is already a member. Their parents Mr and Mrs Frank Kitchel live northwest of Carey. The two brothers and three fraternity brothers Pat Manning Avon Lake Bob Jones Dayton and Fred Smith Fredonia N Y attended a State day convention in Columbus and visited the Kitchel home Friday and Sunday.
Dr H R Wenner a Carey veterinarian will discuss control and prevention of diseases in livestock at the adult farmers class tonight at 8 o clock in the high school. The Seaway meeting with John Anderson as speaker has been postponed to March 24.
At a Sunday Luther League meeting President Judy Watkins delivered the full report on the February 28 Federation gathering in Fremont. Devotions occurred and plans were made to discuss new Luther League advisors at the next meeting at 6 o clock.
Gerald Fletcher 20 of Carey and Claren E. Moses 18 of Findlay were found guilty of drag racing by Judge James A. Bope in Findlay Municipal court. Fletcher fined 40 dollars plus costs and Moses 25 dollars plus costs. Each license suspended 90 days. Charges filed by a Findlay police patrolman.
The Carey Kiwanis chorus will sing next Wednesday night at Christ Lutheran Church with a service starting at 7 45 PM. Clarence Prescott serves as president of the Kiwanis organization.
