A high school orchestra gave a morning program under Miss Millicent Warren as she was recalled after her aunt’s death. The eighth grade science class took a five six weeks test and students planned model gardens. The state scholarship contest for seniors will be held March 19 at Upper Sandusky High School with about 3000 seniors statewide. Mrs Clarissa Putnam Dies After Brief Illness at 81
Mrs. Clarissa Putnam aged 81 years 7 months 2 days died last Thursday at 5 30 in the home of her daughter Mrs W R Graves on West Street. She was born July 28 1850 in Fairfield county daughter of Cornelius and Elizabeth Clark. Surviving are five children Mrs Graves Mrs Perry Presler Dallas Putnam Allen Putnam and Shannon Putnam plus 21 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren. Funeral Sunday at Memorial Evangelical Church conducted by Rev E D Paulin and Rev C W Sultzbach with burial at St Paul cemetery near Vanlue.

Automobile Burned Near County Line Road Crash
Miss Marjorie C. Craig of Detroit drove a Hudson Bight which burned after a curve mishap two miles north of town on the county line road. She escaped, but clothing worth about $800 burned. The purse with cash fell as smoke filled the car. A passerby took her to Carey for treatment after the crash.

Mr and Mrs Fred Nachbar marked their sixtieth wedding anniversary at their E South street home with a thr een dinner for family including Charles Lawrence Opal Harold Ray Clifford and Mary Moser. Married March 11 1872 at Bucyrus they lived near Bucyrus 19 years before moving to a Carey area farm and then to Carey 30 years ago. He is 82 and she two years younger both active and rejoicing in decades of happiness with many Carey friends offering congratulations.

Death of S B Gillett in Carey Ohio
Illness of pneumonia and influenza led to the death of Sylvester Byrd Gillett at his Carey home on Thursday afternoon. Funeral services were held at the residence with Rev Paul R Clouser of Christ Lutheran Church officiating. He was born November 21 1846 in Norton Ohio and died aged 85 years 3 months 19 days. He married Ella Ann Webb in 1887. three children were born to them with Irene surviving. He was a long time Mason and Eastern Star member and served as a surveyor and farmer in Carey Ohio.
