Carey High School Orchestra to Perform March Chapel Program

Carey high school presents a chapel hour concert Monday morning March 14 featuring Mendelssohn War March from Athalia and a variety of solos and ensembles. Evelyn Hosafros sings piano solo Valse in C Minor, Vincent Brown plays Orientale, Millicent Warren, Robert Sultzbach and Helen Beebe perform Estrellita, with the orchestra playing Marche Militaire and Chanson Sans Paroles. Public invited.

Dunkirk Wins District B Tourney Clinching Frndlay Bid

Dunkirk cagers emerged as the outstanding team in the B district tournament held at C H S gym last Friday and Saturday March 4 and 5. They defeated Fostoria St Wendelin in the finals to earn a shot at the sectional at Findlay March 11 12. The event drew strong crowds with 900 paid admissions Friday and over 1600 Saturday. Results featured Mt Cory 37 Old Fort 36 Morrison 25 for Mt Cory Lykes 17 for Old Fort Bloomville over Mt Blanchard 30 19 and St Wendelin 45 Nevada 16 with Scharf 20 for St Wendelin and Miller 8 for Nevada. Frances Emily Bare dies at 84 in Upper Sandusky home

Frances Emily Bare aged 84 died Tuesday night at 11 15 at the home of her son in law and daughter Mr and Mrs Loren Stahl on B Findlay street death followed a broken left hip suffered February 19 while visiting in Upper Sandusky at the home of granddaughter Mrs Adam Wagenmater She was born December 28 1847 in Orange County New York and was the daughter of Henry and Emily Wisner Her surviving brother Charles Wisner Mulhall Oklahoma was the only other member of a family of eight The deceased were John Wisner Mrs Sarah Egbert Mrs Ollie M Archer Mrs Mary E Pinkerton and two who died in infancy She married Francis Marion Bare May 28 1874 who died February 5 1908 Their children were Jessie May wife of Loren Stahl and Grace Welcome who died at 16 Mrs Bare was a member of Memorial Evangelical church Funeral services will be held at the Stahl home Friday at 2 00 pm Rev Paul R Clouser will officiate Interment will be in Spring Grove cemetery north of town

Death of Charles C. Vogel at 54 in Wyandot County

Charles C. Vogel, father of Chester Vogel of Dow Street, died Tuesday at 42 15 at his home northeast of Wharton after a heart attack. He lived in Wyandot County his entire life, born May 15, 1861 in Salem township. Survived by wife Iva M. Krider and four sons Noble, Ray, and Chester Vogel plus another Ray Vogel. three brothers John Harmon William K Vogel and sister Mrs Louise Fehnel and Mrs David Kimmel. Also three grandchildren. Funeral Friday at 10 30 a m at the Methodist church in Wharton with Rev J E Turner officiating. Burial in Wharton cemetery.

Giant chorus to sing Stainers Crucifixion at three churches

A chorus of about 70 from Christ Church Carey First Lutheran Findlay and Findlay will perform Stainers Crucifixion at 4 PM Sunday at Christ Lutheran Church. Directed by William Pratt Sr Findlay with Dale Hudson on organ. The work is a meditation on the sacred passion in simple 19th century style. Performances are also set for Findlay Sunday evening and Palm Sunday evening in Tiffin and Findlay.

Lutheran Missions Meet At Christ Lutheran Church

The Woman's Home and Foreign Missionary Society of Christ Lutheran Church gathered in the parish hall on Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. F. A. Galbroner presided with devotionals by Mrs. Sadie Kennerley and a lesson on Stewardship of Time led by Mrs. Della Ogg. Mrs. Kennerley led a business session of the Ladies Aid after the meeting.

Death of Sister Mrs Sarah Seigfried in Bloomville

Mrs Eddye Monday reported the death of her sister Mrs Sarah Enders Seigfried in Bloomville at age 62 from Brights disease. She grew up in Carey where her father Philip Enders ran the American House. Brother Philip Enders arrived from Coffeyville Kansas to attend the Bloomville funeral set for 2:00 PM at the family home.

Fire at Country Home Near Town Burns Out Before Help

A Tuesday morning blaze was discovered in the summer kitchen at Clyde Wentling's country home, four miles southeast of town. A hot plate kept a boiler warm, and high overnight winds likely set the table afire. Carey fire department was summoned but the fire was extinguished before they arrived.

Boy Scouts Meet at Parish Hall

Troop No. 3 of the Boy Scouts held a meeting at the parish hall Monday evening with Julian Gardner of Napoleon serving as scout advisor. An invitation to attend the Marion meeting was read. The Elm Hills hike was postponed due to weather and moved to April.

A Wyandot county report to State Auditor Joseph T. Tracy recaps unpaid charges totaling 1,433.32 for services by attorneys engineers and accountants in Carey water and electric rate dispute. It notes no contract existed and says the village board paid Ohio Power 1,121.64 for repairs illegally as rates were lowered 15 percent after court agreement.

Harness Shop Damaged By Fire

Fire struck the Henry Orians harness and shoe shop on S Vance street late Friday night. Otto Gottfried spotted the blaze as he locked the plumbing shop. A second alarm at 12 45 reported a new fire in the northwest corner causing extensive smoke water and equipment damage.

E. E. Leonard Ends Fifty-One Year Run as Engineer

A revival began at St Paul Evangelical Church south of Vanlue with a packed schedule of nightly topics from Christ in Evangelism to The Cross and Its Message. Carey Welfare Plans Benefit Play for Needy Children

At a Thursday afternoon meeting at the library in Carey plans were made for a Tuesday evening March 15 benefit play at the high school auditorium. Proceeds support the Carey Welfare committee clothes and shoes fund for the needy. Tickets are 20 cents adults 10 cents children. If tickets aren’t bought a donation appeal will be made. Over $200 has been spent since fall to aid local children.

Correction notice on erroneous February dairy payment

A correction states an $800 payment to Heck's Dairy in February was incorrect and should have been $14.25. The error originated in the committee managing funds for feeding undernourished school children.
