Widespread visits and family gatherings noted across Tiffin area. Residents including Mr and Mrs Daniel King, Jill Marie Snobarger, Bruce Hunter, and many relatives visited kin in Delta Sycamore Bucyrus and Columbus while attending birthdays weddings and hospital stays.
Dr Fennyson Guyer of Findlay will lead the special Sunday evening Lenten service at Carey Methodist Church on the topic What Are We Waiting For. Known as America’s Most Versatile Speaker he has written two books and earned five honorary doctorates. The service begins at 7 30 p m and nursery care will be available. The public is invited.
Ohio State University student nurse Miss Glenda Gunther completes an eight week Public Health Department affiliation in Toledo. She joins Sigma Theta Tau, one of 20 invited from about 350 OSU nursing students, based on academics and patient care.
Mrs Ralph Phillips and Miss Patty Orians traveled from northwest of town with Mrs Lis Orians for a surprise visit to Claxton Georgia to see Mr and Mrs Willard Hipsher and their sons Mike and Jay. The Carey party reached Claxton Friday with pleasant warm weather and green lawns. They visited Savannah on Saturday and noted snow in Carey on departure. They returned home Monday evening from their southern trip.
The notice lists updated addresses for Pvt Glen D. Robison and Pvt Peter Jacobs Jr along with Milford E. Hablitzel. Robison is assigned to 73rd Tank Battalion Co D A P O 7 San Francisco California while Jacobs is listed at MCRD San Diego California and Hablitzel at Recruit Training Command U S Naval Training Center Great Lakes Illinois.
The third annual Junior Speech Contest sponsored by the Della Gilliland W C T U will be at 1 p.m. Friday in the high school auditorium. Judge panel includes C G Laird and Douglas W Myers with performances by Wayne Baldrich Alita Terry Melva Wentling Barbara Wise Karen Fetters and others.
Bernard's Furniture Store was entered after midnight Thursday through an alley rear door. A letter ready for mailing was opened and an office desk was stolen. the safe combination appeared tampered with but no cash was taken. Jerome Bernard, owner, said the break-in was discovered Friday morning. Chief Henry Pteracin led the investigation.
Work on dismantling the supervisor's office building north of the New York Central depot began Monday per L E Offenbacher local agent. The Valentine Co Kenton oversees. H M Tong owns the carpenter's building and Willard Barth bought the coal house supplying other structures and the water softener. With steam locomotives past at the Central the water tank ended service mid February. preparations are made to dispose of the tank and water softener.
Robert Ritter suffered minor injuries in a two car collision on State Route 587 near Route 67 at 4 50 am Monday. His 1950 Mercury hit a 1956 Chevrolet owned by Robert T Hushour and the Mercury was a total loss with extensive Chevrolet damage. Ritter received lacera tion treatment at Wyandot Memorial Hospital.
One hundred Methodist Men and their sons are expected for the Father and Son banquet at 6 30 p m March 21 at Carey Methodist Church. Uncle Gene and his gospel magic will provide entertainment for the boys. Tickets should be purchased early this week.
The Village Board of Education discussed upkeep for the year. Superintendent Douglas W. Myers was instructed to obtain estimates for east end blacktopping of the high school area to prevent gravel damage. Plans include adding stone for the rear driveway and grading and seeding the E South Street lot. The S Patterson Street vacant lot will be cleared and prepared for a parking area.
W O and W E Dennis of Dayton signed a purchase contract for the Shawhan Hotel in Tiffin and will assume operation at midnight March 31. They own Antlers Hotel in Dayton and acquire stock of T C Melrose Inc owned by the Melrose estate. Building remains with Wagners of Tiffin.
Richard Vaughn the son in law of Mr and Mrs T D Romig has taken a two year post as a construction engineer in Manhattan with Western Electric Manufacturing Co and started March 1 He was previously an architect with Ohio Bell in Columbus and earned his engineering license in the last year Mrs Vaughn formerly Elizabeth Romig flew to New York City from Port Columbus to arrange housing for a week Her mother Mrs Linford Hallowell of Findlay and Mrs Vaughn hosted guests at the Vaughn home while Mr Romig and Ohio State student John joined them at the airport.
Ray A. Landversicht 51 of Upper Sandusky returned home Saturday evening after being missing since February 29. No explanation was given for his disappearance. A missing person report was cancelled and police along with the Wyandot County sheriff's department participated in the check. Landversicht is manager of the Elks Club in Upper Sandusky.
Fourteen Luther Leaguers from Christ Lutheran Church attended the 11 o clock worship at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Toledo on Sunday and heard former pastor Rev John A Roa preach Rev Root as assistant pastor. The group then visited Rev and Mrs Root at their home 110 Newberry Street.
Paul Eugene Spradlin 21 Mc Guffy truck driver forfeited a $20 bond for failing to appear before Police Justice Clyde Jenkins on March 13 for speeding. He was arrested by Officers Paul Y. Pahl and Vincent R. Jacob.
Wyandot County Representative F. Cassel spoke to Carey Kiwanis and Farmers Community Clubs on revenues at federal state and local levels. He cited Carey’s bonds funding salaries, General Fund limits, parking meters and fines, and warned higher taxes as the only way to raise living wages for local employees. Ben Walter and Wendell Hackworth attended.
Twenty three members met at Mrs. Carl Cupp’s home for the Jay Cee Jays with thank you letters read from Douglas Myers and Sister Mary Olympia for books donated to schools. Mrs. Cupp to lead the program committee. plans include a cook book update, sponsoring another Junior girl, and a spring mother-daughter tea featuring guest speaker Mrs. Clifford Holden on hair care.

Kenneth Monday, 46, a Vanlue school bus driver, appeared before Municipal Judge James A. Bope in Findlay and was fined five dollars plus costs for failing to yield. The mishap occurred on State Route 330 north of Vanlue when the westbound bus turning south collided with Ellsworth Price, 48, of Mt Blanchard, as both vehicles headed south. Damage to both cars was minor.
The Carey Band Mothers sponsor a bake sale at Dible's this Saturday starting 9 30 am Donations from non members are welcome to support the band efforts. Proceeds aid band activities and equipment.
Carol Powell a 6th grade student at the Col Crawford Building is named champion speller of Carey schools. She advances to the state contest April 28 in the Student Union Building at U S U Columbus. Carol won the local championship among top spellers from grades 6 through 8. She is 12 and the daughter of Mr and Mrs Paul Powell.
A series of birth notices from Wyandot Memorial Hospital and Mercy Hospital details newborns for families including Traxler Parson Lessig Robinette Logsdon Hagley Hewett and Yost. Sequences cover weights times dates and parentage with previous siblings noted for several families.
Mr and Mrs James Perna of 601 N Vance Street have purchased the ranch type house at 51 West Street from Mr and Mrs Louis Caudill and expect to move in around the first of May.

Mr and Mrs Nick Hucke report a Shrop ewe on their farm birthed quintuplets Monday noon. Three lambs are natural color and two are black. all were up and around hours after birth. The Huckes kept them warm with a heat lamp and feed them with bottles. by Tuesday noon all quintuplets were in good condition. Mrs Hucke notes the mother ewe may have had three births previously.
The display features the work of each Girl Scout and Browne Troop in Carey. Mrs. Joe Newhard organized the crafts display at Peoples Bank Co to commemorate Girl Scout Week now observed.
Wyandot County sheriff reports Mrs Eleanor Roszman about 55 wounded by a gunshot at her Crawford area home early Monday. She underwent surgery for eight intestinal perforations and is in fair condition at Wyandot Memorial Hospital. A .25 caliber pistol was recovered at the scene.
F K Cassel Wyandot County representative to the Ohio General Assembly will speak at the North Central Ohio Optometric Association dinner meeting next Wednesday evening at the Greenlawn Supper Club Crestline.
The Crawford county grand jury met last week and returned 18 indictments while dismissing five cases. One ignored case involved Clay Gumther near Upper Sandusky charged with manslaughter in a traffic death of Mrs. Cora Burkett of Beach City.

Dinner at 6 oclock followed by a home talent program. post commander Charles W Laudenslager urges Legion and Auxiliary members and spouses to reserve the date.
Mrs. Herbert Lortz reported a boat stolen from its mooring on Tymochtee Creek to Wyandot sheriff's department on a Saturday. A deputy found a military canvas bag with old clothing in a grove while searching, but the bag was not linked to the theft.
The Carey Times corrects a prior name error, stating Mrs Cyril Brown is the Red Cross drive solicitor, not Mrs Cyril Baker as previously published.
