Wyandot Rod and Gun Club Attends Sportsmen Convention

Don Hall of Upper Sandusky reports for the Wyandot Rod and Gun Club at the League of Ohio Sportsmen's convention in Columbus. He outlines two major projects: Bud's Lake near Browns town opened 1954 and a private lake clubhouse on the William Miller farm south of Upper Sandusky. The club plans 20 000 multi flora roses and 8 000 conifers to form a living wildlife habitat fence.

Pedestrian Struck At Intersection In Chillicothe

Miss Mary Catherine Rothgeb, 24, was hit by Clifford Mortimer, 65, at N Vance and W Findlay Streets around 9 30 a.m. She suffered shock and minor injuries and Mortimer was fined for failing to yield the right of way.

Unusual Porch Fire Destroys Blanket Load

Mrs. Howard Snowberger reports two blankets and a clothes dryer ruined by a blaze on Friday evening. Two men saw smoke from a back porch and pulled items from an automatic dryer before tossing them outside, where the blankets were consumed. Cause remains undetermined.

Carey Band Mothers Plan 90 New Uniforms and 20 Hats

At a Monday high school meeting the Carey Band Mothers reaffirmed the February decision to buy 90 new uniforms and 20 hats. Band director Lewis Hawk shared OSU marching band films brought by James Patterson. The group planned a Spring dance for April 6 and rescheduled the next meeting to April 9 due to Easter.

Court forfeits bond for missed appearance on unsafe vehicle charge

Richard L. Geney of Carey rural route forfeited a $10 bond after failing to appear before Police Justice Clyde Jenkins on March 4. The charge was operating an unsafe vehicle a tractor. Cpl. Harold J. Cardwell of the Ohio State Patrol cited him.

Y Teens Hold March Meeting At High School

The Y-Teens met March 5 at the high school with President leading and Mrs Leathers offering a prayer. Volunteers were named for Holy Week program parts and Findlay High's Carousel may be attended. Guest speaker Mr Myers spoke on Life's Work stressing education for women. The meeting closed with devotions and a closing prayer by Shirley Wisner.

K Rupp To Sell License Plates In Muncie Office

Beginning March 1 at 153 S and S Muncie Street, auto and trailer plates will be available. Truck owners may apply at the office through March 15. Pvt George Schwemley Arrives in Germany

Mr and Mrs Charles Schwemley received word on March 5 that their son Pvt George Schwemley arrived in Germany February 27. He spent one of the ten days at sea in dock due to fog, then docked at Bremerhaven and traveled by train to Sandhofen near Mannheim on the Rhine. George recently graduated from the supply records course at Fort Lee Virginia.

NYC Telegraphers Lifetime Pass Honors 50 Years Service

J. E Audritsh, a NYC telegrapher, receives a gold lifetime pass valid across the railroad system in recognition of fifty years with the NYC and Big Four lines as of March 25. The presentation was made by L. E. Offenbacher for D. A Fawcett of Chicago. Audritsh has been recovering at home from a heart attack.

Soroptimists Plan Rummage Sale At Carey Club

Miss Charlotte Montague and Mrs Clyde Jenkins hosted Carey Soroptimist members for a meeting in the Hotel Carey dining room. A green centerpiece and shamrock markers set the scene as clothing for the rummage sale on Thursday was priced. One application was received for the Virginia Jenkins Scholarship, with the next business meeting scheduled March 20.

The Knights of Columbus hold 8:30 p.m. Tuesday meeting with a seminary speaker. The annual father son communion and breakfast is Sunday March 18 with an 8 a.m. Mass in the old chapel, breakfast in the school cafeteria, then a recollection day starting at 10 30 a.m. The theme is Christian Family Life. Carey Students Win Top Ratings at Music Auditions

Seven Carey High School music entries received Superior or I ratings at the District 2 Solo and Ensemble Music Auditions at Heidelberg College. Among those honored were Michael Ball, Nina Rader, Linda Wise, Sara Romig, Willis Wentling, and others in solos, duos, and quartets with accompanists listed. Superior prize allows regional State Finals at Bowling Green State University on April Saturday.

Nothing Missing In Two Break-Ins

Police investigated two weekend break-ins with no losses reported. Gamble store proprietor John Mullholand found a shed door forced and a stockroom door barred from inside. plaster damage suggested intruders tried to break through a wall. A second entry attempt into Moore's store rooms above failed. no items were taken. Kathryn Farmer heard a disturbance about 4:30 to 5 a.m. Saturday.

Stolen 1949 Ford Recovered Damaged Near Wapakoneta

Paul Burson reported a 1949 Ford stolen from N Muncie Street early Friday. Detroit hitch hikers were suspected after inquiries about routes. the car was found abandoned near Wapakoneta, damaged with stripped transmission gear and missing fluids. Burson and Chief Henry Pieraomini retrieved it and sold it to a dealer.
