Great Day for Northwestern Ohio Meet at Toledo State Hospital

Toledo State Hospital hosts a daytime program inviting area high schools to participate with two sessions starting at 9:00 a.m. for students and a 7:00 p.m. session for adults. Prof Oscar Erf of Ohio State University will lecture on dairy topics and the scale of the industry, including why Toledo Lura is the world’s largest calf, inviting questions from attendees.

Brightville Chautauqua Series Delights Local Audience

The Brightville Indoor Chautauqua week culminated in a Friday program by the Pythian Sisters and Knights of Pythias. Throughout the week, Elza Jacobs and a large ensemble performed Living Pictures and concert pieces with a rotating cast of singers, dancers, and musicians led by Mrs. Ruby Ginger and Mrs. Cecil Laird. The program will be repeated at the K of P hall in Wharton on Friday, March 14.

A. E. Drake Civil War Vet Laid To Rest In Stoutsville

Robert Drake and family attended the funeral of A E Drake in Lancaster and Stoutsville. The 87 year old veteran of Gettysburg duties was honored with Knights of Pythias and Sons of Veterans ceremonies. Taps were sounded by a 91 year old Logan county veteran.

Death of Sister Mrs Frank Slemmer

Mrs Frank Slemmer returned home from Vincennes Indiana after attending the funeral of her sister Mrs Creighton Mull who died after a long illness. The funeral was held Wednesday. Mrs Slemmer traveled with Mr and Mrs C H Kennedy and Mr and Mrs A T Spitler of Findlay.

Death of Mrs Emma Fenstermaker at 212 N Vance Street

Mrs Emma Fenstermaker died after a long illness at her son-in-law and daughter Mr and Mrs H B Pierce home at 212 North Vance Street. She was 68 years 2 months 15 days old and survived by two daughters Mae and Della, a brother and two sisters. Funeral at Memorial Evangelical church with burial in St Paul cemetery.

Lutheran Lenten Meetings Open With Strong Attendance

Last week the Lenten meetings at the Lutheran church began with a large turnout. The Men’s Bible class led singing and the choir performed with bass solo by Gail Kurtz. Rev. Paul R. Clouger continues talks on religion with topics The Fact of God and The Fact of Man. The Queen Esthers will provide choir and music tonight. Public invited.

Blast Shocks Town From Quarry Blast

Last Friday afternoon a powerful blast rattled buildings and shattered windows across town. No one was hurt as the quarry explosion occurred near the surface after a dynamite charge failed to explode previously and another charge nearby detonated quietly.

Contractors McDaniel and Mitchell found a round plaster void in the rest room wall of the new grade building. A bean from the sand used in plaster mix had sprouted an inch, loosening the plaster as the rising heat moist grew the sprout.

Funeral Held for Alvin Wisebaker in Tiffin and Carey

Mr Alvin Wisebaker of Tiffin died suddenly at 52 of apoplexy while visiting friends. He is survived by his wife Rosa Thornton and daughter Marguerite. a son died earlier. Funeral services were held at Trinity Reformed Church in Tiffin and burial followed in Spring Grove cemetery with Rev J O Reagle and Rev A C Shuman officiating. March Weather Shifts From Snow to Sunshine

A March week described with wintry Sunday and Monday giving way to rising temps on Tuesday. Variable weather continued through the week as last Saturday opened raw and cold before a balmy sunny afternoon. Twenty nergons toured from Carey area to Columbus for a radio broadcast at Station WAIU hosted by manager Fred Palmer. Burglars Break In At Adrian Restaurant

Early Tuesday morning Earl Mullholand of Adrian awoke to find two intruders prying a rear window to his restaurant. The men fled across the Big Four tracks with burlap sacks left behind. They drove away in a waiting Chevrolet heading west. nothing was taken.
