Mr. Insley discusses growth of Hancock county schools and a young people conference announced by Mr. Romig for Upper Sandusky. Band festival set for May 17 with Carey band entry and a faculty basketball game forthcoming.
Toledo State Hospital hosts a daytime program inviting area high schools to participate with two sessions starting at 9:00 a.m. for students and a 7:00 p.m. session for adults. Prof Oscar Erf of Ohio State University will lecture on dairy topics and the scale of the industry, including why Toledo Lura is the world’s largest calf, inviting questions from attendees.
Frank A Beery census supervisor urges Carey residents to obtain Absent Family schedules for the first two weeks in April. Blank forms available at his Marion office by in person visit writing or telephone.
All members and friends of the W. B. A. are invited to a social session to be held Friday evening March 14.
The Brightville Indoor Chautauqua week culminated in a Friday program by the Pythian Sisters and Knights of Pythias. Throughout the week, Elza Jacobs and a large ensemble performed Living Pictures and concert pieces with a rotating cast of singers, dancers, and musicians led by Mrs. Ruby Ginger and Mrs. Cecil Laird. The program will be repeated at the K of P hall in Wharton on Friday, March 14.
Robert Drake and family attended the funeral of A E Drake in Lancaster and Stoutsville. The 87 year old veteran of Gettysburg duties was honored with Knights of Pythias and Sons of Veterans ceremonies. Taps were sounded by a 91 year old Logan county veteran.
Mrs Frank Slemmer returned home from Vincennes Indiana after attending the funeral of her sister Mrs Creighton Mull who died after a long illness. The funeral was held Wednesday. Mrs Slemmer traveled with Mr and Mrs C H Kennedy and Mr and Mrs A T Spitler of Findlay.
The Jennie Larmonth Missionary Society of Christ Lutheran Church postpones from Monday to Tuesday. It will be at Mrs L G Altwater home with Mrs Forest Dame assisting and Mrs George Newhard and Mrs Alva Criger leading.
Trustees of Zion Bloom St Paul cemetery will vote Friday March 14 at 1 00 pm on cleaning contract for 1930 at the cemetery. Hosea Tong secretary.
The U S class led by Mrs. Byron Oge will hold a bake sale on Saturday March 15 at the rest room from 8 am. Proceeds go to class activities.
Mrs Emma Fenstermaker died after a long illness at her son-in-law and daughter Mr and Mrs H B Pierce home at 212 North Vance Street. She was 68 years 2 months 15 days old and survived by two daughters Mae and Della, a brother and two sisters. Funeral at Memorial Evangelical church with burial in St Paul cemetery.
Last week the Lenten meetings at the Lutheran church began with a large turnout. The Men’s Bible class led singing and the choir performed with bass solo by Gail Kurtz. Rev. Paul R. Clouger continues talks on religion with topics The Fact of God and The Fact of Man. The Queen Esthers will provide choir and music tonight. Public invited.
Last Friday afternoon a powerful blast rattled buildings and shattered windows across town. No one was hurt as the quarry explosion occurred near the surface after a dynamite charge failed to explode previously and another charge nearby detonated quietly.

Five Arlington garages decide to keep one open each Sunday in turn to provide necessity service while others observe the Sabbath. The Arlingtonian notes this arrangement allows operators of closed garages to fitly observe.
Mrs Lucille Hartle of Upper Sandusky visits the Dorcas Carey library each Thursday for Red Cross work and asks anyone with a large baby buggy to donate or sell it for a small sum reporting to her at the library this Thursday afternoon.

Contractors McDaniel and Mitchell found a round plaster void in the rest room wall of the new grade building. A bean from the sand used in plaster mix had sprouted an inch, loosening the plaster as the rising heat moist grew the sprout.
The Board of Public Affairs hires Fralch & Emery of Toledo to compute operating costs for the municipal electric plant and propose new rates. Currently a 40 percent discount is in effect, and the new rates are expected to exceed the discounted level.
A Findlay established service, Bishop Sanitary Dry Cleaners, performs dry cleaning for ladies dresses. Marketed as the best in Northwestern Ohio, the one to date establishment is credited to Bradley, a tailor and dry cleaner.
Mrs Rolland Jacobs expresses sincere thanks to friends and neighbors for cut flowers potted plants delicacies cards and valentines received during illness.
Final returns show Doreas Bible Class attendance 72 percent with 18 percent gain, Men’s Bible Class 75 percent with 13 percent gain, John Wesleyan Glass 51 percent with 37 percent gain, Wesleyan Guild Class 58 percent with 20 percent gain. All agree the contest boosted attendance. two leading groups to host entertainment for the others. Social likely after Easter.
Mr Alvin Wisebaker of Tiffin died suddenly at 52 of apoplexy while visiting friends. He is survived by his wife Rosa Thornton and daughter Marguerite. a son died earlier. Funeral services were held at Trinity Reformed Church in Tiffin and burial followed in Spring Grove cemetery with Rev J O Reagle and Rev A C Shuman officiating. Elza Thornton and son Paul of Bellefontaine attended the service in Carey.
Rev Harold W Roupp pastor of William Street ME church Delaware spoke at the Kiwanis luncheon about today’s Germany. He cited postwar conditions and strong anti war sentiment. The club voted to sponsor a junior baseball team for the summer league and Wm C Roupp of Upper Sandusky attended as a guest.
A March week described with wintry Sunday and Monday giving way to rising temps on Tuesday. Variable weather continued through the week as last Saturday opened raw and cold before a balmy sunny afternoon. Sunday and Monday followed fair, with Tuesday bringing snow squalls, and Wednesday turning colder then sunny in the afternoon.
Mr and Mrs Joseph Wehle and Mr and Mrs Fred Ewing of Adrian attended the funeral of Mrs Wehrle on Monday. Charles Ewine of Peru, Indio, at Nevada. Mr Ewing, 83, Civil War veteran and former Wyandot County resident, accompanied by Mr and Mrs Ewine of Peru, accompanied the Wehrle family home for a visit of a few days.
The Carey Rod and Gun Club will hold a special meeting Thursday evening at 7:30. All members are urged to attend and hear the speaker on an important topic.
Twenty nergons toured from Carey area to Columbus for a radio broadcast at Station WAIU hosted by manager Fred Palmer. The Carey Male Quartet and Big Lick quartet performed with guests including Lem Cole George Egbert M H Thomas and W V Thomas. A dinner at the Deshler-Wallick hotel's Ionian room followed with 20 place settings and photos at Baker photo studio.
Early Tuesday morning Earl Mullholand of Adrian awoke to find two intruders prying a rear window to his restaurant. The men fled across the Big Four tracks with burlap sacks left behind. They drove away in a waiting Chevrolet heading west. nothing was taken.
The Carey PTA meets March 17 at 7 30 in the high school auditorium with Miss Sophia Schaad of Heidelberg Tiffin presenting a talk on Great Paintings A related art exhibit runs March 26 28 in the same auditorium and music by an instrumental trio Mansfield Mrs Maybelle Barnard Mrs W McChesney and Miss Eloise Bame adds local cultural appeal.
Ed Combs of North Street files a federal suit against Big Four Railroad seeking 75000 in damages for an injury he sustained on April 19 1929 while employed near the south end of town. The action names the defendant railroad as liable for the incident.
Carey Lodge No 420 F A M urges all members to attend Friday evening as the Master Mason degree is conferred on one candidate. Special music has been arranged. I G Haines WM.
John Puchta attended his uncle JL Pawcett's funeral in Ottawa last Thursday. Pawcett, aged 82, was a Civil War veteran.
