The new Carey High School gymnasium seats over 1700 and hosts two basketball games simultaneously while two shuffleboard teams compete. It features 36 lights, two east end loudspeakers, and foldable seats that widen the floor. About 150 boys use it daily for intramural games.
The Carey seniors present The Diary of Anne Frank at the high school auditorium on March 19 and 20. The cast includes Debbie Strahm as Anne and Sue Roynon as Margot with Ruth Black and George Cressman as the Van Daans and Steve Zender as Peter. The production uses four simultaneous playing areas to show life in hiding with Emogene Perkins as Miep and Jim Heck as Mr. Kraler guiding events.

Damage in Carey from a windstorm and a sleet and ice storm was minor compared with neighboring towns. No injuries reported. Roofs, antennas, and a car were damaged, limbs fell blocking streets, and power and telephone service were disrupted with repairs continuing through Wednesday.
All boys aged 13 to 16 interested in Pony League baseball are to meet at Carey Memorial Park baseball field at 2 p.m. Saturday March 21. Orville Ratliff, manager.
A color film Conversion Plus will be shown at First Methodist Church during Sunday school at 9 15 a m. The event aims to educate attendees with a new production during the service hour.

After a Wyandot County Extension Advisory Committee meeting William Mitchell resigns as County Extension Agent Agriculture effective April 15. Ron Courtright, long in charge of 4-H, will take over Agriculture Agent duties as Mitchell moves to a role with Tri County National Bank in Fortoria.
Carey Jaycees公共 plan a Youth Fund Bowling Tournament from March 22 to 28 at Bowl Era and Recreation Lanes. An All-Sports Banquet for high school athletes and fathers is set for April 13 at the Catholic School with Lou Groza as guest speaker. Rosary Altar Society and Carey Jaycee Ettes will handle dinner.
A. J. Dibling, longtime manager of the Carey Farmers' Co operative Co elevator, submitted his resignation to the directors effective March 9. Kenneth Dible is acting as temporary manager until a replacement is found. Dibling has not announced his future plans.
Amerace Corporation realigns major divisions under J. T. Whitely to focus on markets served. The Swan Rubber Company plants at Lineville Alabama and Carey Ohio move to Ace Molded Products which gains non battery lines while American Hard Rubber concentrates on storage battery components. Ace Molded operates plants in Akron Ohio and Butler New Jersey with Booneville Arkansas producing ACE Combs and ACE bowling balls. Supplex division moves under Swan Rubber to Bucyrus Ohio. Other divisions remain unchanged.
The Ohio Water Commission will hold a public hearing March 18 in Findlay to consider Public Law 566 Small Watershed aid for the Upper and Lower Blanchard River Watersheds. Proponents and opponents may testify. written statements urged to speed the process. The hearing 2 p.m. at the Moose Lodge 200 E Front Street Findlay.
The 1964 Girl Scout Week theme emphasizes a promise in action as the organization notes 236 Girl Scouts in Carey and a 169 percent increase over prior years. Juliette Low founded Girl Scouting in March 1912, with 20 million girls and women touched nationwide. Parents are urged to engage more in activities to support their daughters and the program.
The newly organized CB Club will meet at 8 o'clock this evening at the Columbia of Ohio Gas office. Charter membership closes tonight while regular club membership stays open indefinitely.
The Rev. Glenn Davis of Paintsville Kentucky will conduct a revival at the Free Will Baptist Church located at 211 East Main Street beginning March 16. Services start at 7 PM each evening and all are invited to attend.
Governor James A. Rhodes will visit Carey on Tuesday March 24 to address a noon luncheon at Christ Lutheran Church as part of a community effort by the Carey Community Development Corporation. Open houses, plant tours, and industrial displays will mark the event with public tickets priced at $2.
Colonel Alfred H. Crawford and Mrs Crawford completed a 214 year tour of duty in Turkey and arrived in New York March 1 from Istanbul. They will visit Columbus then Washington before Col Crawford reports to Fort George G Meade Md for a new assignment.
The Carey Board of Education voted Monday evening to present a 2 mill operating levy to voters at the May primary. State aid to Carey Schools was cut back about $7 000 to $8 000 recently with threats of further cuts. Carey voters rejected a 114 mill levy last fall.
First Methodist Church sponsors a week of revival meetings from March 15 to 22 with speakers Rev. Robert A. Jones of Memorial EUB Church and Rev. Carl Hicks of Zion Methodist Church Toledo. Evening services begin at 7 30 with special music. public invited.
The Carey Conservation Sportsmen Association will hold a general membership meeting at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the clubhouse. Members are urged to attend and dues for this year can be paid through Moore's Store Kramer’s Carry-Out or Ray Peiffer Insurance. Last year's delinquent members won’t pay a new initiation fee. Practice trap shoots are held at 9 a.m. Sundays at the club grounds.
Blaine Sprat Thomas, 51, of 752 W Findlay St, bowled a perfect 300 at Bowl Era Lanes Sunday, first ABC sanctioned 300 in Carey. The 36 year veteran earns a $1000 jackpot prize plus a $100 savings bond and other awards from sponsors including Lanning Motor Sales and The Carey Times. He teamed with his wife Jean and Paul Koepfer in the Mixed Doubles League as his 300 capped a 699 first two games of 190 and 199. Bowl Era Lanes will host a steak supper next Tuesday for sponsors and Thomas.
