The Taft inauguration met heavy storms with blizzard conditions in Washington. Officials shifted the oath indoors to the senate chamber, provoking public disappointment and renewed talk of moving the date.
The fifth and final Lecture Course of the season features Monrque Markley presenting Harp Strings and Heart Strings on Tuesday March 23. Markley, praised by the Genesey Illinois Gazette for his magnetism and expressive language, spoke last Friday to a captivated audience. Seats at Ewing's drug store open Monday March 22 at seven o clock.
Mrs J F Brown hosted the Coterie Club with St Patrick decorations. The Magic Supper contest awarded Mrs Frank Galbroner first prize a match holder and Mrs C W Stutzman a souvenir consolation. Eighteen guests attended including Mrs Harry Hunter and Miss Tessie Herbert. Next meeting is at Mrs Patterson’s residence.
E Cram spoke at the College of Agriculture on poultry in two lectures last Wednesday and again yesterday. He gave a talk on Poultry on the Farm before a poultry institute jointly sponsored by Ohio State University and the State Board of Agriculture on Tuesday.
J P McCarthy of Nevada traveled toward Bucyrus on foot along the Pennsylvania tracks after missing his train. He appeared before Mayor Sanger on intoxication charges, paid a five dollar fine plus costs, and was jailed after being escorted back to Bucyrus.
Miss Gladys and Adah Nichols entertained a number of friends Friday evening with a spread. The gathering included guests Miss Ruth Ewing, Miss May Cosgray, Miss Helen Parlette, Miss Berenice Keller, Miss Trene Traves, and Miss Margaret Hailty with games and music.
The Big Poor line carried nine carloads of ice from Lake Michigan on Sunday and ten on Monday. The Big Four railroad handled brisk business at the week's start sending two trains, each fifteen cars, to Findlay on Sunday with another trainload departing Monday.
Rev J oT Williams led revival meetings at Big Oak with Evangelist Frank Dury assisting. The services were well attended with thirty nine conversions reported. Dory has traveled to Lancaster Wyoming for several months.
The Poultry Record edited by C E Cram of this place released its March issue. It spans thirty six pages with an unusual array of advertising and 6000 copies were sent out. The magazine has existed since October 1907.
Last Friday in the library assembly room a debate on suffrage featured S S Hart and Charles Dame for the affirmative and Millard Steen and Jacob Nitrauer for the negative. Judge advisers were A J Nowlan A BE Constien and H G Chambers with Mark Karr presiding. The contest was close with the affirmative winning and delivering well argued points on the right of women to vote.
City officials chaired by Mayor Chambers met with Clerk Stahl and council members Pahl Dame Start Kar Jacoby and Herbert. Bills paid include labor on Street and minor payments to People's Bank and CACH. The electric light ordinance passed on third reading with unanimous support. Night watchman Thomas Walters failed to qualify. John Kitzler sworn in as night watchman. Joseph F Wonder presented a franchise for Carey Farmer's Telephone. changes noted and to be reviewed by directors. Poles on Findlay Street banned. drainage discussion on Brown Avenue concluded with planned follow up.
On Saturday afternoon two local residents visited the Tins office marking their first town call since last November. F M Kinney of Adrian area and Asa Snyder from southwest LoWn reported improved health after long nervous trouble and a hip injury respectively. Carey's friends were pleased to see them out again.
Mrs A Smith and daughter Miss Florence return from Missouri after attending a trial where M Smith sued Miss Ann Sartes for care and wages. The judge decided in favor of Miss Sartes, granting $ su 0 to be paid to Miss Smith.
The Big Four anticipate a move in April with their new Station Line set to debut on the first. This upgrade marks a turning point away from the traditional spring house cleaning that has strained them in the past.
Garey Christopher Deiddlenaugh of Leip sic buys Ferdinand Bray's farm located southeast of town by one and one half miles. Deiddl baugh plans to establish a future home in the locality.
