County Hearing For Hattie Culler Ditch And Civic Notices

The county commissioners will hold a hearing on the Hattie Culler joint county ditch with Judge Babst reappointing W. A Gibson to the county soldiers relief commission for three years. March meetings, revival plans in Upper Sandusky, and February marriage licenses reported.

Resolutions Adopted by the Vanlue Farmers Institute

The Vanlue Farmers Institute adopted resolutions thanking State Speakers D. D. Harsh and Horatio Markley for their work and for practical farmer ideals. They praised the Limestone Ridge Quartet and the institute’s efforts, urged support for farmer-friendly legislation, and requested an institute at Vanlue. They called for a state appropriation for a local school of agriculture, support for a Northwestern Ohio substational study, and urged Rep. Hagerty to push constituent wishes. They also petitioned the General Assembly and sent copies to the Senator, Representative, and Ohio Governor.

Death at Crawford Claims Rebecca Smalley Widow of Isaac Smalley

Rebecca Smalley widow of Isaac Smalley died at her Crawford home on Tuesday at 3 PM. She leaves two sons William Smalley owner of the Crawford grocery and Jacob Smalley at home, and was stepmother to the late Judge Allen Smalley. Funeral held Thursday at 2 PM in Crawford with Mr and Mrs Joe Kail of this city in attendance.

Travelers' Club Doings Celebrate Lincoln Birthday

The Travelers' Club held a Friday evening event at Mrs Beitler's home with Lincoln birthday decorations and proverb themed supper partners. The Monday session featured Mrs Constien on Ohio early settlements and Mr Thrall presenting Much Ado About Nothing followed by act three discussion and current events. The next meeting is planned for March 15 at Dr. and Mrs. C E B Cram's home.

Apple Peddlers Arrested in Marion Escape Debt

Thomas Dugan of Dayton and Peter Hunn of Toledo were arrested in Marion on request of Carey liveryman Ed Keefer after riding a Hocking Valley freight. They claimed to be apple peddlers with two carloads of fruit. Keefer lent $15 and a rig. after selling the apples they fled, but settled with Keefer and were released.

Death of Glen Edmund Devene at six months

Maple Sugar Production Near Windham By James Phillips

James Phillips of Windham with his son Clarence tends about six hundred maple trees tapping for syrup. He reports excellent sap weather and has produced about 125 gallons so far. He plans to ship 25 gallons to Carey on March 6, with John and Alton Phillips selling 25 gallons in the past week.
